Fun With Friendswood High School Wranglerettes

Each year the FHS Wranglerettes have a Winter Ball, and we were excited to provide the DJ entertainment for this one. The ball was held at Bay Oaks Country Club and it was beautiful! The room was decorated in Christmas décor, from the trees to the tables. Each table had either red or green accents and ornaments in glass vases for centerpieces. The chairs had white chair covers, green velvet toppers, and red satin sashes. It was gorgeous! After dinner and some awards, we moved on to dancing. The Wranglerettes and their dates were so much fun and danced all night long; there were times when everyone in the room, except for the chaperones, was on the dance floor. I think we had as much fun as they did! Hopefully we’ll get to see all of you again next year!

What a great cold, sunny day for a December Reception! The colors for this wedding were red, ivory, and hydrangea green, and they were gorgeous together. The tables had ivory damask floor-length linens and taupe satin napkins, while the chairs had ivory satin covers with taupe satin ties. The alternating high/low centerpieces consisted of low floral arrangements of red, white and green hydrangeas; and the 5-6’ high centerpieces had tall candle-filled lamps with crystals hanging down, topped with floral arrangements. Each centerpiece was surrounded by amber colored votives with candles. To complete the look, we had amber uplights giving the room a golden glow. The ballroom had the feel of vintage elegance and was beautiful.

Maggie wore a beautiful satin ivory gown with lace overlay. She wore a lace bolero jacket over the gown that she removed for the reception. With the ivory satin sash and veil edged in beading, she was stunning. Her Bridal Party wore black dresses. Todd wore a black tux with ivory vest and tie, while his Groomsmen wore red vests and ties.

After a dramatic horse-drawn carriage leading into a staircase entrance, the First Dance, Toasts, and Blessing, we moved on to dinner. The Cake Cutting followed dinner. Maggie’s cake had three heart-shaped, ivory, stacked tiers. There were red roses between each tier. The topper consisted of two silver entwined hearts with the couples’ last initial. Todd’s chocolate, rectangular cake had chocolate dipped strawberries around his initial. Surrounding his cake were platters of assorted cookies. While the cake was served, the guests got to enjoy cookies and milk.

The Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dances came next, and then it was dance time! We knew this crowd would be a lot of fun, as they were already dancing during the cocktail hour. From the first song to the last, they were out there having a great time. After plenty of dancing, we stopped for the Bouquet and Garter. This wedding had one of our firsts; the Bride caught the garter! She was sitting behind the guys catching, and it sailed right past them and into her lap. It was so funny! Then, it was dancing until the end.

The Newlyweds made their exit through a shower of bubbles, climbed into their car, and headed off to their Honeymoon. Congratulations Todd and Maggie, and enjoy Colorado!

Congratulations Joe and Caroline

What a beautiful December wedding! The colors were black, white, powder blue, and silver. The theme was ice blue Christmas and the whole Reception was gorgeous! The tables had floor-length white tablecloths with black pin-tuck toppers. The chairs had white satin covers with black ties. Each place setting had a silver charger and a glittery silver favor box. The alternating high/low centerpieces were either tall silver trees with beading, crystals and uplights; or foot high, uplit glass vases filled with assorted silver and ice blue ornaments. There was a Christmas tree with only white lights and the gifts were placed underneath. The card holder was a bird cage covered in white glitter, which made it look like had snow on it. The whole effect was holiday glamour.

Caroline wore a strapless, white gown with lace overlay that was fitted to her hips. From there it flowed with layers and layers of ruffles to a long train. Her look was topped with an elegant crystal triple headband and a black sash that was added at the Reception. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of assorted white and blue flowers, including hydrangea, calla lilies, and roses. Caroline’s Bridal Party wore a variety of black dresses. Joe wore a black tux with a dark grey vest and tie while his Groomsmen wore black tuxes with white shirts and black ties.

After the special dances and dinner, we moved on to the toasts and cake cutting. Caroline’s white cake had five stacked tiers with a dot pattern on each. The topper consisted of blue hydrangea. There was a tiny bit of smashing, but not too much. Joe’s chocolate cake was in the shape of the state of Texas. There was a bit more smashing here, but not too bad, and then it was on to the dancing. At that point, Caroline changed in to her Reception dress, which was much better for dancing. It was white and fell softly to the floor with draping, and there was one strap of rosettes going over one shoulder. She looked like classic Old Hollywood elegance.

This crowd was fun! They danced to everything and just loved to have a good time. After some dance time, we did the Bouquet and Garter, and then went back to the dancing until the end. After the Last Dance, the Newlyweds ran through a shower of rose petals while the guests also rang their jingle bell bracelets. Joe and Caroline climbed into a Bentley and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations to you both!

Had Fun with MRI

Friday night we had the pleasure of providing the entertainment for MRI, a local company, at South Shore Harbour Country Club. This was our third year DJing their holiday party and we always have a great time. After a delicious buffet, awards, and prize drawings, it was dance fun until the end. MRI seems like a great company to work for, staffed with really nice people. Merry Christmas to you all and we hope to see you next year!

Congratulations Angel and Sarah

This fall Reception was so elegant, with its navy, blush pink, champagne, and ivory colors. The tables had floor-length ivory damask linens and champagne-colored satin napkins. The chairs had taupe satin chair covers with ivory satin ties. The centerpieces consisted of low vases of blue, pink, and ivory flowers surrounded by candles.

Sarah was stunning in her ivory, strapless gown. It was fitted to the hips and then flared out into a beautiful train. It had embroidered embellishments and a beaded sash. She carried a full bouquet of pretty pink, blush pink and ivory flowers. Sarah’s Bridesmaids wore navy floor-length gowns and carried smaller versions of her bouquet. Angel and his Groomsmen were very handsome in their black tuxes. Angel wore an ivory vest and tie while his Groomsmen wore silver vests and ties.

After a great entrance in which the Wedding Party and Newlyweds danced for the guests (that was so much fun and really set the tone for the night!), it was time for dinner. After a delicious seated meal, we moved on to the cake cutting. Sarah’s cake had four round, stacked champagne-colored tiers. Each had different ivory designs, and the top had the Newlywed’s last initial on it. It was very elegant and matched the theme and colors of the day. Angel’s cake was awesome: it was a 10” high camera lens, all edible. Angel is a photographer and it was perfect for him. The toasts came next followed by the Father/Daughter dance and Mother/Son dance, and then it was party time! This was a fun crowd that loved to dance and there were some great dancers in the crowd, even kids.

After a bit, we stopped for a surprise. Angel and Sarah brought out a birthday cake as a surprise for his cousin. She was shocked and everyone sang Happy Birthday. What a sweet thought from a Bride and Groom who have so much to think about on their wedding day! After that there was more dancing until we stopped for the Bouquet and Garter tosses. Then, back to dancing, singing, and fun until the end. And I mean it when I say fun because this crowd was a blast! After the last dance, Sarah and Angel made their exit by running through a shower of bubbles. Congratulations to you both and have a long, happy life together!!

Congratulations Rick and Monica

This Reception had the perfect colors for the fall: dark red with ivory, gold, and orange accents. The tables had floor length ivory tablecloths with centerpieces of tall flowers in vases or low candles. All had votive candles and small pumpkins around them as well. The chairs had ivory satin chair covers tied with dark red ties. It really came together nicely.

Monica wore an elegant ivory fitted gown. It was covered in lace and had a V front and back neckline. She finished the look by wearing an ivory veil and carrying a beautiful full bouquet of dark red flowers with berries. Monica’s Bridal Party wore dark red satin strapless gowns and carried smaller bouquets that were similar to hers. Rick wore a black tux with ivory vest and tie, and red calla lily boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar attire but with dark red vests and ties.

After the dinner (and lots of kissing between Rick and Monica!!) we moved on to the toast (with more kissing) and cake cutting (with more kissing). This couple was so in love and loved to kiss! Occasionally I decide to make up a blog award for a couple who deserves it, and this one officially wins the “Couple Who Kissed More Than Any Other Couple We’ve Ever Seen In All Our Years Of DJing Award”. LOL But, to get back to the cake cutting, Monica’s cake had four ivory round tiers on a tall silver stand. The tiers were stacked except for the top two, which had flowers between them. Each tier had different ivory designs on it. The cake was topped with the couple’s last initial embellished with bling. It was very elegant. Rick’s cake was amazing!! It was a postal truck about ten inches high. It was on a ‘street’ pulling up to a mailbox with the couple’s last name on it. The detail was incredible! Then we moved on to the First Dance.

The First Dance was to a custom mix made by Monica and Rick. It started with a slow country song, went to a faster salsa, and then ended with a fast Michael Jackson song. The Newlyweds also had practiced a choreographed dance and were understandably a bit nervous about how they would do, but they rocked it! The Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dance came next, and then, it was party time!

This crowd was very diverse and enjoyed a variety of music. They were a lot of fun and danced to everything. After a bit we stopped for the Bouquet and Garter Tosses and quickly got back to the music and partied until the end. This night had one other thing that never happened to us before: during the bouquet toss, the bouquet went over the heads of the ladies on the dance floor and fell back behind our table. The women were so determined to get it that they started coming over the table! Too funny. We all got a good laugh and then had a toss re-do. After a lot more dancing and the last dance, the night came to a close. Congratulations Rick and Monica!

Congratulations Cody and Rachel

What a wonderful day for a wonderful wedding for a wonderful friend! The Rachel in this wedding is one half of Houston’s famous Girls With Pearls Photography. We met Rachel and Jamie almost two years ago and quickly became friends. We were honored and so excited to be a part of Rachel and Cody’s wedding!

Rachel was so beautiful in her ivory gown. It had spaghetti straps and a wide dark ivory lace sash. The back fell to a chapel length train which was bustled for the Reception. As the night got cooler, Rachel put on a taupe colored cardigan which matched her dress perfectly. She carried a full bouquet of pink vintage looking roses. Rachel had her hair pinned back behind one ear with an ivory rosette which was attached to a short, loose ‘cap’ of netting. Her Bridal Party wore very pale lavender, one shoulder, floor-length gowns with detailed sashes. They carried large bouquets of baby’s breath tied with raffia. Cody wore a black tux with a white shirt and ivory vest and tie. The Groomsmen wore similar attire but no jacket. They wore bow ties and had their sleeves rolled up. Rachel’s children were the Ring Bearer and Flower Girl, and they came down the aisle together. She carried a bird’s nest with paper petals punched from old book pages, and he carried an old wood sign that said ‘Here Comes the Bride.” So cute!

I’m going to spend waaaay too much time telling you about the details, because they were amazing! The theme was outdoor/country/shabby chic/vintage/rustic/casual elegance. Or at least that’s how I’d describe it. lol The Ceremony was in a field in front of an arch Cody made from branches and baby’s breath. The aisle had old canning jars holding flowers hanging from shepherd hooks. There was an old French door leaning against a tree between the Ceremony and Reception, and it had the guest’s table assignments hanging from it on twine with little clothes pins. There were vintage suitcases underneath. There were other trees in the clearing that had vintage or antique furniture underneath, and the one nearest the Ceremony site had the guest pages next to an old window with scripture taped to the panes. There were also empty vintage picture frames scattered around the property. After a beautiful Ceremony, guests passed an old chair with a chalkboard on it saying “Eat Drink and Be Merry” with an arrow pointing the way to the Reception.

Upon entering the Reception, which was on the home’s amazing three-level patio, guests were greeted by an old claw foot bathtub filled with drinks. They were also offered a signature drink in a vintage-style soda bottle with a straw. The round guest tables had white floor-length linens with burlap runners down the center. White wooden chairs completed the look. Cody and Rachel’s chairs had tin signs saying “Mr.” and “Mrs.” hanging from them. The centerpieces consisted of old bottles and jars with ivory and pink antique-looking roses, old books, and old silver candlesticks. The beige napkins were tied with a brown ribbon holding a pink crepe paper flower.

The rest of the patio was perfectly decorated for the theme. A large tree, which overhung half the patio, had long strings of vintage looking crystals hanging from it. There were large crepe paper flowers hanging over the whole patio, underneath the restaurant style white lights. Over the cake table, a lit chandelier hung from the tree. The favors consisted of small bottles of honey with Cody & Rachel, Meant to Bee” on them, as well as small burlap bags of potpourri with a bee stamped on the front. The favors matched the Ceremony program, which was made of brown kraft paper with antique typewriter wording and a bee design on the top.

After the First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, and Mother/Son Dance, guests enjoyed their meal. Then we went on to the toasts and cake cutting. The cake table was covered in an embroidered tablecloth and featured a cake for the newlyweds, along with fruit tarts and Italian cream cupcakes for all. The wedding cake was one small white layer topped by a birds nest holding three small blue eggs. That layer was brought out to a small table on to the dance floor so all could watch. Then, party time!

This crowd was so much fun! They danced to everything and loved to have a good time. The dance floor got a bit crazy, with kids and grown men doing The Snake, people doing The Robot, The Vogue, Reeling in a Fish, and every other goofy dance you can think of. There was even crawling on the dance floor like in the Dirty Dancing movie. lol The whole time was just fun, fun, fun! And, as an added bonus, since we’re personal friends of Rachel, we got to let our hair down a bit and I got to have fun dancing as well.

After everyone had time to eat their cake, we did the Anniversary Dance. The longest married couple has been married 32 years! Since there was no bouquet or garter, we then had fun dancing until the end. After a long and perfect day, Cody and Rachel slipped away to head off to their honeymoon. Congratulations to you both – we love you and are so happy for you!!

Congratulations Christian and Kristin

This Ceremony and Reception were so cool: they were held in an airplane hangar. The airplane was the backdrop for the outdoor Ceremony, and the Reception was held in the hangar. The Ceremony area had wooden church pews for the front rows and brown chivari chairs for the rest. The indoor décor was awesome as well: he tables were long traditional brown wood dining tables and the chairs were brown wood chivari chairs. The tables had brown/copper colored chargers and assorted candles down the middle. There were also twenty amber uplights accenting the walls of the hanger, which gave the whole hangar an amber glow. The whole look was funky/vintage/elegant, and it rocked!

Kristin was beautiful in her strapless, fitted ivory gown. It had detailing on the bodice and a sweep train with lace at the edge. She wore navy pumps underneath. Kristin carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory and pink roses. Her Bridal Party wore coral colored, knee-length strapless dresses and carried ivory rose bouquets. The little Flower Girl was so adorable in her dress with a big bow in the back! Christian and his Groomsmen were handsome in their black tuxes, ivory shirts, and mocha colored vests and ties.

After a delicious dinner, it was time for the cake cutting. Kristin’s cake consisted of four off white, stacked, round tiers. There was a trail of ivory and pink rose petals running down from the topper. Christian’s round, chocolate cake was decorated to look like a dart board. It even had darts stuck in it – pretty cool! After the cake cutting and a tiny bit of smashing, we moved on to the toasts. Three toasts were given and then was dance time. We opened the dance floor with the Anniversary Dance, and the longest married couple had been married for 46 years. Then, it was party time!

After a bit of dancing we had the Money Dance, and the Bouquet and Garter tosses came later. Then, it was party time until the end. The night finally came to a close and the Newlyweds ran through a shower of bubbles and headed off to their new life and honeymoon. Congratulations Christian and Kristin and enjoy Jamaica!

Congratulations Joe and Mona

The Reception brought us to a venue where we’ve never worked before, and the ballroom was really nice. The colors for the day were navy and orange. The tables had floor length white table cloths with sheer navy toppers. There were white napkins and chivari chairs with white chair pads. The high/low centerpieces were either tall vases with curly willow and brightly colored flowers, or low vases and bottles with candles inside. To tie it all together, we had eight orange uplights around the ballroom to give it an orange glow.

A unique touch was the framed photograph at each table. Each one had a picture of Mona and Joe while dating, and explained about how it was their first concert, first movie together, etc. We were referred to Joe and Mona by a couple (Nina and Gilbert) whose wedding reception we performed at a year ago, and that couple was here at this one. It’s always fun to see one of our couples again!

Mona was gorgeous in her off white strapless gown. It was fitted to the hips and had beautiful ruching and detailing. The bustle was unique in that it was off to one side in the back, and it was perfect with the gown. She wore a headpiece of white netting, embellishments and feathers and carried a bouquet of assorted bright flowers. Her Maid of Honor wore a navy strapless gown and carried a smaller version of Mona’s bouquet. Joe was handsome in his tan suit, navy shirt, and orange tie. He wore an orange calla lily boutonniere. His Best Man wore the same.

After introductions, the blessing, and a delicious Filipino buffet, we moved on to the dances. Following the First Dance, Father/Daughter Dance, and Mother/Son Dance, it was party time! This group was a lot of fun and danced from the first song to the last! After a bit of dancing, we stopped for a slide show and the Toast and Cake Cutting. Mona’s cake had five, square, stacked, white tiers. Each had navy scroll designs and the topper was bright flowers. Joe’s cake had two, round, orange layers with navy accents. The front was decorated with the logo for the University of Central Florida, where he graduated, and had footballs on one side. On the top was the logo for The Mets, with baseballs on the other side of the cake. The toasts came next and were pretty darn funny! Then, back to the non-stop dancing. This crowd really did dance up until the last song of the night! And, we can really say this was a first in all our years of DJing: one of the guests did the worm on the dance floor. We’ve seen that before, but we’ve never seen a gorgeous woman in a short, fitted, strapless dress, wearing high heels, doing it. And she did it twice. It was hilarious!!

After the Bouquet and Garter Tosses, and a lot more fun on the dance floor, and I mean a LOT, the night came to an end. Joe and Mona stayed until the end to bid their guests farewell. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!!

Congratulations Tim and Susan

What a beautiful day for an outdoor Ceremony and afternoon Reception. The Reception was held in a room which had floor-to-ceiling windows on three walls, with water on three sides. It was so pretty! One neat aspect of this wedding was the mix of cultures. Susan is Korean, Tim is from England, and they had friends and family in from all over. Everyone came together to celebrate the wedding and they all had a great time.

The colors for the day were ivory and eggplant/dark plum. The tables had floor-length ivory damask linens which matched the ivory satin chair covers. The centerpieces had three styles: tall vases with large bouquets of baby’s breath, tall vases with ivory calla lilies, or low bowls with ivory calla lilies. Each guest had a damask print tin of Jordan almonds at their place setting. It was all very elegant.

Susan was gorgeous in her ivory satin, strapless gown. It had a ruched waist, and split front bust with a beaded embellishment right below. Susan carried a hand-tied calla lily bouquet and looked very elegant. Her Bridesmaids wore cocktail-length, strapless dresses in eggplant and carried smaller versions of Susan’s bouquet. Tim wore an ivory shirt, vest and tie under his morning coat. He had a calla lily boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar attire, but with eggplant colored vests.

After cocktails and appetizers, the guests enjoyed a seated meal. During lunch, they heard the toasts and watched Susan and Tim cut their wedding cake. It had four, round, stacked ivory tiers, with calla lilies on the top. Each tier had a decorative icing band around the bottom with scroll designs. The First Dance came next, and then the dance floor was open to all.

The Bouquet Toss came later and then the guests stayed until Tim and Susan had their last dance and made their exit. Congratulations Susan and Tim!

The afternoon brought us to a fun, family-oriented reception. There were at least 350 people and tons of kids. It was great! The color for this wedding was royal blue, with accents of rose pink and burgundy. The tables had three different alternating centerpieces with flowers and candles on burgundy accent cloths.

Diane was so beautiful in her white gown with small cap sleeves and beaded accents. She wore a gorgeous headband-type veil with embellishments around the edge. Diane’s Bridesmaids wore royal blue knee-length dresses with small cap sleeves. Michael wore a black tux with a white vest and tie and his Groomsmen wore royal blue vests and ties.

After dinner, it was time for the toasts and cake cutting. Diane’s cake had three round, stacked, ivory tiers, with a bride and groom cake topper. Each tier had scroll accents and pink roses. Michael’s chocolate cake was in the shape of Texas and had a star, rifle, and sword on top. After the cake cutting, it was on to the special dances. To open the dance floor to all, we started off with the Anniversary Dance. The longest married couple had been married for 61 years. What a great inspiration! Then, after some words of advice to Michael and Diane, it was party time!

After some fun dancing, we stopped for something called Schnitzelbank. It’s a German song/drinking game. Diane’s Grandfather led it by singing a verse, and then all the guests sang the answer. It was our first time seeing it and it was a lot of fun. Later in the evening came the Bouquet and Garter tosses, and then the guests danced the night away until the end. Michael and Diane ran through their family and friends waving ribbon tied wands, and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations Diane and Michael!

Happy Birthday Doreen

This was a fun event to DJ: a surprise 60th birthday party. And Doreen really knew nothing about it. Her family put a lot of time and effort into making this birthday party one to remember, and they did a great job! Doreen’s daughter contacted us to do this party because we DJ’d her wedding five years ago. It was great to see the ‘newlyweds’ years later, still happily married and with a beautiful daughter.

The color for the party was turquoise, and there were beautiful floral centerpieces with turquoise and black balloons. The cake was white with a turquoise print on the side that matched the invitations. The top had dinosaurs and said “Sorry all your friends couldn’t make it.” LOL There were also custom made cookies at each place setting.

To tie all the turquoise together, we had eight turquoise uplights around the perimeter of the room. They looked fantastic and allowed us to dim the room lights for an awesome, elegant feel, and the perfect party atmosphere.

Doreen was brought into the room to a chorus of “Surprise!” followed by dinner and a slide show that brought tears and laughter. Guests then sang Happy Birthday, Doreen blew out the candles on her cake, some toasts were made, and the party was on. It’s easy for people to party when the Guest of Honor loves 50 Cent and Nelly!

What a wonderful wedding day for this couple! We provided music for the Ceremony and Reception, and they both were fabulous. This was our first time at Amber Springs, and the grounds are beautiful. It’s fairly new and has natural wood and soaring ceilings.

The colors for this country vintage wedding were yellow with red accents. Stephanie did a fantastic job of pulling all the little details together to make the theme perfect. There were mason jars with candles in the windows; assorted centerpieces of small trees with birds and flowers, birdhouses, mini wagons, vases with red and yellow flowers, and other vintage items; yellow Ceremony programs with an old typewriter font; a wooden hand painted sign out front directing guests to the ballroom; and I could go on. The attention to detail was great!

Stephanie wore a beautiful strapless, white gown. It had a ruched bodice with a gorgeous accent at the waist. The long train had a pretty, full bustle. She carried a bouquet of white and yellow flowers. Her Bridal Party wore yellow knee-length dresses and carried bouquets of red and yellow. James and his Groomsmen wore black suits with white shirts, yellow ties and boutonnieres, and black Converse.

After a beautiful ceremony with a shy little flower girl in a yellow tutu (too cute!), dinner, and the special dances, we moved on to the dancing. This crowd was fun! They danced to everything and loved the top 40/pop/hip hop/Eighties songs the most. Near the end of the night (you know, that time when every lets their hair down as a results of a few drinks haha), it was really fun watching them all on dance floor

After the five(!) toasts, which involved some hilarious topics such as jet packs, Stephanie and James cut the wedding cake. It was so perfect for the theme. It had three stacked tiers, each with red and yellow polka dots and a red lace ribbon at the bottom. It was on a vintage looking cake stand. The topper consisted of two little birds, and there were also two little birds on the cards for guests to fill out and hang on the wishing tree.

Finally after a ton of fun dancing and the bouquet and garter, the night came to an end and the Newlyweds ran through a shower of bubbles and were driven away in their limo. Congratulations James and Stephanie and enjoy Cancun!!

This Reception brought us to a venue where we’ve never played: The Green Event Center in Friendswood. It’s a green facility with natural themed décor, an herb garden on the roof, and it’s very unique. The staff is great as well!

The colors for the day were black and aqua blue, with a peacock theme. The tables had alternating centerpieces of a short vase with blue rocks and peacock feathers or tall lanterns with candles. Instead of a sign-in book, each guest put their thumbprint on a print of a tree, and then signed next to it. Afterwards, the Newlyweds can frame the print to hang in their home. Pretty cool!

Jena was so beautiful in her slightly off white, strapless gown. It had gorgeous beading on the bodice and a satin sash where the bodice met the skirt. To top that off, Jena had the most amazing bouquet. It was an aqua ball which was made up of all brooches. Cool! The Bridal Party wore knee-length black dresses and carried a single white calla lily with a peacock feather accent, wrapped in an aqua ribbon. Josh wore a black tux, vest and tie, with a calla lily boutonniere, and his Groomsmen wore the same.

Following dinner, the First Dance, and some dancing, it was time for the toast and cake cutting. Jena’s cake had three white tiers, each with white designs and an aqua blue band at the bottom. It was topped with their last initial and peacock feathers. Joshua’s cake was chocolate, with a large Titleist golf ball on the top. After a tiny bit of cake smashing, we moved on with the dancing and the fun.

Finally the night came to a close and the Newlyweds made their exit through a shower of bubbles and into a very well decorated car full of balloons. Congratulations Josh and Jena and enjoy your honeymoon cruise!

This afternoon Reception was so pretty with the black and fuchsia color theme. The tables had floor-length black satin tablecloths, and the chairs had black satin chair covers with fuchsia satin ties. On top of the chairs there were beautiful silver embroidered and beaded toppers. The centerpieces had three alternating styles: tall vases with large white and fuchsia flowers, bowls with rocks and floating fuchsia flowers, and medium-height vases with submerged roses and floating candles. It was so pretty! There was also a black and fuchsia candy buffet with pink and fuchsia candy – yum!

Chelsey was so gorgeous in her off-white gown. It was strapless, with a ruched fitted bodice, and layers after layers of ruffles at the bottom. She had her hair in an up do, with a feathered hairpiece. Chelsey carried a full bouquet of white and fuchsia flowers, tied with fuchsia ribbon and bling. Her Bridesmaids wore fuchsia organza dresses that fell to the knee and had a satin ribbon at the waist. They carried bouquets of fuchsia and white flowers tied with black ribbon. Jake wore a black tux, vest and tie. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes with fuchsia vests and ties. I loved the colors!

After a fantastic dancing entrance and the buffet, it was time for the special dances. Then came some hilarious toasts and the cake cutting. Chelsey’s cake had four white, round tiers, each with fuchsia scroll designs. It had edible flowers cascading down the front was topped with the couple’s last initial. I assume Jake likes to fish, because his cake had an edible fish on the top and it said “Catch of a Lifetime.” Then after the Money Dance, the dance floor was open to all.

This crowd was a blast! They danced to everything, and packed the dance floor from the first song to the last. I think we had as much fun as they did! If they weren’t dancing, they were taking pictures in the Photo Booth area. Also, this Reception proves that even if it takes in the daytime, you can still have lots of dancing and fun! After a bit, we stopped for the Bouquet and Garter. Then, it was dancing until the end when the Newlyweds ran though bubbles, jumped into their limo, and headed off as a married couple. Congratulations Jake and Chelsey and enjoy your Honeymoon!

Congratulations Kyle and Melissa

This Ceremony and Reception brought us to a venue we visit often: The Safari Texas Ballroom in Richmond. The Ceremony took place at the Chapel and the Reception at The Safari Lodge. For people who love Country music or a rustic feel to their wedding day, the Safari Lodge is the perfect place.

The colors for this wedding were eggplant, chocolate, and ivory. They looked great together, especially for a room with a wood/western feel. The tables had chocolate brown, pin-tuck floor-length table cloths topped with ivory napkins and the chairs had ivory chair covers. The centerpieces had assorted yellow and ivory flowers.

Melissa was gorgeous in her gown! It was a bit different from what you usually see and I fell in love with it. The gown was ivory, and fitted with ruching to the hips. Then it fell in an amazing skirt with layers and layers of gathered pleats. There was one wide shoulder ‘strap’ that crossed over in the back and consisted of rosettes. The gown was stunning! She carried a white bouquet with yellow accents. Melissa’s Bridesmaids wore eggplant colored dresses that had one shoulder with gathered details and fell to just above the knee. They all carried yellow bouquets. Kyle and his Groomsmen looked great in their brown vests and tuxes and ivory ties. You don’t see brown tuxes as often as you see black, but it really looked nice and was perfect with the color scheme of the wedding.

The cakes at this wedding were something to see. Melissa’s cake had four, stacked, white tiers, each with an elegant design and an eggplant colored band at the bottom. The topper was two white kissing birds. (That theme was carried out with the favors given to the guests: salt and pepper sets of two little white birds.) Kyle’s cake was incredible! It was a fully edible replica of his truck: a red F150 with “Just Married” written on the back window. There was a bit of cake smashing with this cake cutting. Well, maybe a lot of cake smashing.  But they got cleaned up with no problem and went back to the party.

I must mention the two little Flower Girls. They were the most adorable girls; two blonde beauties both under 3, and on the dance floor all night. One of them was so funny when she refused to walk down the aisle. She threw herself on the floor and wouldn’t move, and cried her little head off. It was the cutest thing ever! I also have to say how fun it was watching Kyle and Melissa dance. They’re so goofy, and if you know me, that’s a big compliment. You can tell that, not only are they truly in love, but they have the best time together.

Finally after lot of dancing and fun, the night came to a close. After a bubble exit and limo ride into the night, the Newlyweds started their new life together. Congratulations Kyle and Melissa and enjoy your Jamaican honeymoon!

This hot summer Reception took place at a venue where we’ve never played before. That’s getting pretty unusual for us and it’s always nice to see a new place. The colors for this wedding were red and black with touches of black and white damask. The tables had white floor-length table cloths with black satin overlays and the white chair covers had black satin ties. The centerpieces had white pillar candles in hurricane lamps, surrounded by votive candles and red petals. A few of the special tables had damask table cloths or runners. It was all very pretty.

Jennifer wore a beautiful almost vintage looking dress that I loved. It was strapless with all over ivory lace. The skirt fell softly to a simple train with an under bustle. Jennifer carried a full bouquet of red roses with crystal accents. Her Bridal Party wore red knee-length dresses and carried smaller versions of Jennifer’s bouquet. Brandon wore a black tux with white vest, shirt, and tie with a red rose boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore red vests and ties.

After the First Dance, dinner, the toasts, and the parent’s dances, we moved on to the party. This group was so much fun!!! They danced to everything and packed the dance floor on almost every song. From a Conga line going around the room, to everyone doing the YMCA, to every country song imaginable, and everything else you can imagine, these guests were a blast! Even the Money Dance was fun. First, they had more people participate than we’ve ever seen. Then, they had fun with it, dancing like it was a hoe down, to Brandon dancing with and dipping a male guest, to Brandon carrying a grown man around as they danced. It was hilarious!

After lots of fun dancing, it was time for the cake cutting. Jennifer’s cake had 4 stacked hexagon-shaped tiers. Each was white and had a black band around the bottom. Alternating tiers had a beautiful scroll design. The cake topper had two small ‘bling’ initials for their first names, and a large for their last name. The Groom’s cake was pretty cool. It was a green ‘field’ with a four-wheeler coming over a big hill, with a cooler of beer in the back. There were ‘trees’, grass, a creek, you name it. And it was all edible.

After plenty more dancing, lots of singing along to the music, and the presentation of a handmade quilt to the Newlyweds by members of Brandon’s family, we did the bouquet and garter tosses. Then, back to the dancing until the end. This was such a great group of dancers that nobody wanted the night to end. But, finally Brandon and Jennifer ran through sparklers, climbed into their limo, and headed off to their new life as a married couple. Congratulations Jennifer and Brandon!! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

This Ceremony and Reception brought us to one of our favorite places: The Lyceum in Galveston. The colors for this wedding day were black and fuchsia and the room was gorgeous! The tables had floor-length fuchsia satin table cloths, and they were topped with sheer black overlays with scroll designs. The chivari chairs had fuchsia sashes and there were black napkins at each place setting. The centerpieces alternated high/low and had three different styles: tall vases filled with green apples and fuchsia pomander balls on top, low vases filled with green hydrangea and fuchsia roses, and vases that held the bridesmaids bouquets once the ceremony was over. There were candles scattered around each centerpiece. To tie it all in, we had fuchsia uplights beaming up the walls in the ballroom. We were able to turn off almost every light and the room just glowed fuchsia. The room was so elegant!

Crystal was so beautiful in her white strapless gown. It was fitted to the hips with ruching, had a corset back, and a beautiful skirt/train of layer after layer of ruffles. The only embellishment was right at the bust line. Crystal’s hair was up on one side with an embellished comb. She carried a white/light pink bouquet of hydrangea and roses. Her Bridal Party wore black gowns with a halter-style strap. Their hair was up on one side with a fuchsia flower hair pin. They carried bouquets of green hydrangea and fuchsia roses. Ryan looked great in his white tux, vest, shirt, and boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes, shirts, and vests with fuchsia ties and boutonnieres.

After dinner, the First Dance, and the parent’s dances, it was time for the toast and cake cutting. Crystal’s cake had three white stacked tiers. The top and bottom tier had black fondant zebra stripes, and the middle tier had just a black fondant band around the middle. It was topped by a fuchsia tow that cascaded down two sides. Ryan’s ‘cake’ was a cookie cake. On the top was a bride dragging a groom away from a large screen TV showing Call of Duty. I guess he likes his video games! LOL

After a Money Dance and a lot more dancing, it was time for the Bouquet and Garter. Then we returned to the dancing. Finally the night came to a close and Ryan and Crystal ran though sparklers and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!!!

This beach themed Ceremony and Reception brought us to a unique location in Galveston: The 1877 tall ship Elissa followed by The Fisherman’s Wharf. The Ceremony on the Elissa was so unique and their pictures are going to be amazing! Art and Jennifer got married on the deck in front of the captain’s area (sorry, I don’t know boat terms) and the guests were seated on the deck. Logistically, the ship is a bit different, but we can definitely see why they chose it: it was just so cool!

The colors for this Wedding were malibu (bright pool blue) and champagne (a sand color). They were perfect! The tables had champagne/sand colored table cloths topped with alternating centerpieces of either blue hydrangeas in vases that had water and seashells in the bottom or vases with submerged orchids and floating candles. Sand, seashells, and blue rocks were scattered around the centerpieces. For favors, there was a beach themed coaster/photo frame at each place setting. This couple did a great job pulling the beach theme into everything.

Jennifer was so beautiful in her off white strapless gown. It had sparkling beaded embellishments, a champagne satin sash, and a bustled skirt. She carried a hand tied bouquet of white calla lilies. Jennifer’s Bridal Party wore malibu colored knee-length dresses with a variety of necklines. They carried smaller bouquets of fuchsia and white flowers hand tied with raffia. Art wore a beige suit with a white shirt and fuchsia boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore khaki slacks, white shirts, and fuchsia boutonnieres.

After dinner and three very heart-felt toasts, it was time for the cake cutting. The cake was awesome! It had three stacked tiers in a sea blue color. Each tier was accented with edible seashells and ‘sand’. Then we went on to the special dances. I must say that this Mother/Son dance was specially touching, as Art signed the whole song in sign language to his mom. So sweet! Then, it was party time!

This was another fun group that danced to all kinds of music. Art and Jennifer also asked for some ‘beachy’ music to go with their theme, and we mixed that in as well. Following the Bouquet and Garter tosses, and a great sparkler exit, the evening came to a close. Jennifer and Art walked next door to their hotel, and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations Art and Jennifer!!

This pretty summer day brought us to a country club with windows on three walls. What a great view! The colors for the day were black, ivory, and jade green. The tables had black table cloths and were topped with alternating high/low centerpieces. The high ones had tall vases with jade hydrangeas and curly willow branches with mini lights. The low centerpieces consisted of candles.

Stephanie was so pretty in her strapless gown. It had a corset back and a gorgeous bustle with pick ups. The asymmetrically wrapped waist was accented with beading that was also scattered about the skirt. She carried a bouquet of assorted white flowers, hand tied with ribbon. The Bridal Party wore pretty jade green knee-length strapless dresses with a black sash at the waist. Charles wore a black tux with white vest and tie and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes with jade green vests and ties. It was all very pretty for a summer’s day.

After the entrance, the Newlyweds went right into their First Dance. Then came dinner and the Parent’s dances. The toasts and cake cutting followed. Stephanie’s cake had three stacked tiers with scroll accents and black ribbon at the bottom of each. It was Italian Cream and you know everyone loves that! Charles’ cake was chocolate, with wings on the top and a helicopter sitting next to it. Sorry if I can’t describe it right, but he’s an Apache pilot in the military – how awesome! After a Money Dance and an Anniversary Dance (The longest married couple was 50 years!) the party was on.

This was a diverse crowd, so they danced to everything from Oldies to Salsa to Hip Hop to Country to Merengue to Top 40 to everything else you can imagine. They were a fun group! After the bouquet and garter and a lot more dancing, the night came to a close. Charles and Stephanie ran through a shower of bubbles, got in their Limo, and headed off to their honeymoon in Belize. (This was totally planned by Charles as a secret and announced to Stephanie at the Reception.) Congratulations to the Newlyweds!!

Wow, what a grand affair! When we heard this Reception would be in a convention center, we thought “Wait, those are huge: how many guests!?” and then “How will it look?” and then “We’ll need extra speakers!” Well, we must say that it was incredible and dramatic and perfect! The colors were black and fuchsia, with white accents, and they were carried throughout everything. The tables had alternating black and white floor-length tablecloths and the chair covers and ties alternated between black and fuchsia. The centerpieces alternated between high and low candles, and flowers floating in tall vases. There were fan favors on alternating place settings and fuchsia bags of candy at each.

To add drama, there was specialty draping and uplights everywhere. The cocktail hour was held in a separate portion of the center, and we had 6 uplights accenting the walls. In the main room, specialty pipe and drape covered the whole wall behind the head table and DJ stage. Fuchsia uplights lit up the draping and there was a monogram projected onto the drape. There were four pillars up lit with pink lights behind the head table. On top of that, we had four fuchsia uplights accenting the white drape behind the cake table. The whole room glowed fuchsia and was gorgeous! Marissa was so excited when she snuck in to see it during the cocktail hour; it was fun to see her so happy.

Marissa wore a gorgeous white gown with a lace up back, and carried a bouquet of white and fuchsia flowers. She was absolutely beautiful. Her Bridal Party wore floor-length black gowns with one shoulder and they carried smaller bouquets of white and fuchsia. Eric wore a black tux with a white tie and vest, and his Groomsmen wore fuchsia vests and ties.

After a hilarious spotlight entrance (they literally had a spotlight on them) with the Wedding Party dancing in, it was time for dinner, with mariachis playing. After dinner we moved on to the First Dance and Parent’s Dances. Then it was party time! This was a fun group, and we knew we were going to have a great time. They danced to everything from Oldies to Country to Spanish to Pop to Zydeco to everything else. Following the toasts, Marissa and Eric cut their wedding cakes. Only one word can describe their cakes: WOW. Marissa’s cake had five, white, square stacked layers. It was literally the largest cake we’ve ever seen. It was taller than her! Each layer had different designs and there was a Beauty and the Beast cake topper. Eric’s cake was also amazing. He works on a ship, so his cake was a huge edible ship floating on ‘water’. It had edible derricks and an edible helicopter on top and was incredibly detailed.

After the Money and an Anniversary Dance (the longest Married couple had been married 58 years!), we went back to the party. The Bouquet and Garter Tosses came after a bit, and then the crowd danced until the end. This was a fun group who LOVED to dance and have a great time and we all had a blast!

Sadly, this fun night had to come to a close and the Newlyweds ran through their friends and family to head off to their new life together. Congratulations Eric and Marissa. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

This hot summer day brought us to the beautiful Lyceum in Galveston. The gorgeous floor to ceiling stained glass windows are the perfect backdrop for a wedding. The colors for the day were purple and coral. The tables and chair covers were white, with alternating high low centerpieces consisting of tall purple and coral calla lilies or candles.

Cori was so gorgeous in her white embellished gown that was fitted to the knees. The bust and hemline were heavily embellished and the gown sparkled. The long train was so pretty! Cori opted to wear her hair down with it swept up on one side only, and it was perfect on her. She carried a full bouquet of purple and orange flowers hand tied with a ribbon. The Bridal Party wore knee-length dresses in coral and carried bouquets that were smaller versions of Cori’s. I loved the colors, as they were so pretty for a summer’s day. Ryan wore a black tux with a white vest and tie and a coral colored boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes with coral vests and ties. The whole group really looked great together!

Following the Ceremony, which included a sand ceremony, and dinner, it was time for the special dances and then the dance floor was open. After a bit of dancing, it was time for the toast and cake cutting. The Bride’s cake had three, white, square stacked tiers. Each had a unique design, also in white. It was topped with a white bow. Ryan’s Groom’s cake had two chocolate, square, stacked tiers. Each was accented with chocolate covered strawberries and college and sport team logos (Texas A&M, Astros, Rockets, and a Texans helmet on the top.) I guess he likes sports? LOL In addition to the awesome cakes, Ryan and Cori had a candy buffet. It had all kinds of candy in purple and orange and it looked delicious. You know the guests loved that.

As soon as the cake was cut, we went right back to the dancing. We could tell that this would be a party crowd, and we were right. They danced to everything from Oldies to Country to Top 40. They came ready to have a great time!

After lots of fun, and the Bouquet and Garter tosses, the night came to a close. The happy Newlyweds ran through a shower of confetti and were carried away in a horse drawn carriage. Congratulations to Ryan and Cori!

This Reception took place at one of our favorite venues: Bay Oaks Country Club. The colors for this wedding were cream and blue and they were so pretty for an afternoon wedding. The tables had floor-length ivory/champagne linens and the same color napkins tied with blue ribbons. The chivari chairs had chair ‘skirts’ in blue (we’ve never seen them before so I don’t know what to call them.) The chair skirts covered just the back legs of the chairs and they were really pretty. The tables had alternating high/low centerpieces of assorted flowers including blue hydrangea, white lilies, and others. At each place setting was a Crave cupcake as a favor for each guest. (Those were gone fast!)

Felicia wore a pretty, strapless off-white gown. It had a ruching down both sides with pick-ups on the skirt. The gown had minimal embellishment except for the sash, which had rhinestone and bead embellishments on the front. It was very elegant and perfect for her. She carried a beautiful bouquet of assorted white, blush and ivory flowers. Her Bridal Party wore knee-length gowns of a slate blue color that had a halter –style neck. They carried bouquets with a variety of flowers. Mario wore a black tux with a white vest and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes with blue vests that matched the Bridal Party gowns.

After dinner and the special dances, it was time for the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake had three white layers on a stand, each embellished with blue hydrangea and other flowers. Mario’s cake was awesome! It was one chocolate layer with a huge, edible, Starbucks coffee cup on top. The cup was at least eight inches tall and the top had swirled frosting that looked like foam with caramel drizzled over it.

After the Bouquet Toss, the afternoon came to a close. Mario and Felicia ran through rose petals, jumped into their limousine and headed off to their new life as a married couple. Congratulations to the Newlyweds and enjoy your Hawaiian honeymoon!!

We met this couple through Keri’s brother, as we DJ’d his wedding reception five years ago. It’s always really cool and great praise when we get to work with the same family more than once. Thanks!

The color for this wedding was jade, and it was so pretty! There were white table cloths and chair covers, with jade green satin table runners and chair ties. The gorgeous centerpieces consisted of high/low floral arrangements of orange, pink, and white flowers, surrounded by candles. The room looked so pretty! For favors, each guest got a lottery ticket in an envelope, with a customized sticker on the front saying “Lucky in Love.” Cute!

Keri was stunning in her white fitted gown. It had a deep V front with beading across the high waist. The whole dress had ruching down the sides to give a gathered effect. It was gorgeous! She carried a bouquet of assorted pink flowers, including roses and stargazer lilies. Her Bridal Party wore jade, floor-length gowns and carried bouquets that matched Keri’s but they were in shades of white. Sean wore a black tux with white vest and tie, and he looked great as well. His Groomsmen wore similar attire but with grey vests.

After the entrance and dinner, we moved onto the special dances. Then, party time! A bit later it was time for the toast and cake cutting. Keri’s cake had three stacked, round, white tiers. Each had a jade ribbon around the bottom and they were separated by white lilies and roses. Sean’s ‘cake’ was different: a nicely displayed assortment of mini tarts with flavors like brownie, snicker doodle, and lemon. I’m sure the guests loved the variety of desserts!

Dancing picked up again and we partied until the end (stopping for the bouquet and garter, of course.) This group loved to dance to everything from Oldies to Country to Pop/Top 40, to Hip Hop, to everything in between. They were a great bunch and a lot of fun. Towards the end of the night we did something that is a tradition in Keri’s family: musical chairs. It was so funny watching everyone go out until the winners were announced: Sean and Keri! It was a bit chaotic but a lot of fun and we could see why they like to do it at family weddings. We were cracking up!

Finally the night came to an end and the Newlyweds headed off to their new life together. Congratulations Sean and Keri!

Happy 10th Anniversary to Us!

Ferdy and I happily celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary last Friday night with 50 of our closest friends and family, and we had a blast! Although we strongly believe that there is no way you can DJ your own wedding reception, we did DJ our party. Thanks to Ferdy for making some great dinner and dance mixes so we could dance and spend time visiting with others without having to man the controls all night (and no awkward silences between songs).

Our colors were black and fuchsia, so we had black satin floor-length tablecloths, black satin chair covers, with fuchsia chair ties and napkins. Our tall centerpieces had black feathers with fuchsia sparkly accents, with fuchsia candles around the bottom. We used our uplights to give the whole room a pink glow and it was spectacular! (If I do say so myself. Ha ha.) After some appetizers and a great dinner, we cut our cake and then danced and danced!

We’d like to say a HUGE thanks to Rachel and Jamie with Girls With Pearls Photography. We became friends with them through the wedding industry a few years ago. We love both them and their energy. They are hilarious and fun and they took plenty of pictures. They love, love, love their clients, and we love, love, love Girls With Pearls!! Even our family and friends commented on how much fun they were, how nice they were, and how they always seemed to be there capturing every shot but never in the way. We are so excited and can’t wait to see the photos!!

Another thanks goes out to Cakes by Jula. Jula’s cakes are amazing and we knew ours would taste delicious. I came in with 4 pages of pictures, a drawing, explanations, and lots of detail on exactly what I wanted. And Jula did it perfectly! Our cake was elegant and so delicious! Thanks again Jula, we knew we’d love it and we were right. And our guests thank you too, as they also loved the cake. All we have left is the top layer, which we’ll eat on our 11th Anniversary.

We had a great night and loved spending time with our family and friends celebrating a milestone in our marriage. Thanks again to everyone who celebrated with us and our awesome vendors who did such a fantastic job!

Congratulations Robert and Kim

I think this lucky couple had the best weather of the year for their wedding. The Ceremony and Reception both took place at Sweetwater Country Club. If you haven’t been there before, you should check it out. The ballroom is absolutely beautiful and has floor-to-ceiling windows on three walls.

The colors for this wedding were coral, champagne, ivory, and brown. The tables had ivory floor-length tablecloths with ivory damask overlays. The ivory chair covers had brown ties. The centerpieces consisted of low floral arrangements with assorted ivory, coral, and pink flowers, or candles surrounded by rose petals.

During the Ceremony, Robert and Kim had a Family Prayer. Family members came to the altar, surrounded the couple, and prayed while a friend played the guitar and sang. It was something we hadn’t seen before and it added a very personal touch.

Kim was gorgeous in her off white gown. It had a deep V-neck front and back with small cap sleeves on the shoulder. It was slim fit to the legs, where it flared out into the skirt. The gown was beautifully embellished and was so elegant. Her Bridal Party wore coral colored knee-length dresses with halter-style tops. They all carried hand tied bouquets of assorted colors, with satin ribbon on the handles. Robert is a pilot in the Army so he wore his dress uniform. He looked so handsome! His Groomsmen wore black suits with coral colored boutonnieres.

After the Ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and a slide show, it was time to move on to the special events of the evening. The First Dance was followed by the Father/Daughter Dance. After some words from Kim’s father, Kim and Robert cut their cake. Kim’s white cake had four stacked tiers, each with white scroll designs. The cake topper consisted of the Newlyweds last initial nestled in flowers. The Groom’s cake was unique: assorted pies. There was a helicopter for the topper. I don’t know the story behind the pies, but what guest wouldn’t love to get a slice of cake along with a slice of pie? There was a tiny bit of cake smashing but it was pretty cute. The toast came next and then it was party time!

This group liked it all – oldies, hip hop, top 40, it was all good. After a bit of dancing, we did the Money Dance. At one point there was a Conga Line: and we weren’t even playing The Conga! Since there was no bouquet or garter toss, we then partied on until the end. Later, the staff came out and passed around sliders to everyone – how cool is that? The night came to a close and Robert and Kim ran though a shower of bubbles, jumped into their Town Car, and headed off their new life together. Congratulations Kim and Robert!

A Bark in the Park – a Huge Success!

Yesterday we had the honor of working with the first annual Galveston Island Dog Show: A Bark in the Park. We provided music to the Farmer’s Market area as well as the audio sound system and music for the competition ring. The dog show was a fundraiser for the Galveston County Humane Society and it was a hit! Hundreds of dogs were entered in the competition, until one lucky dog and owner were awarded Best in Show. There were also vendors selling a variety of items, a farmer’s market, obedience demonstrations, fly ball demonstrations, dog rescue groups, you name it. And I learned some important lessons: 1. People like to dress up their dogs, and 2. Owners like to dress up as well, especially in big, decorated hats.

We had a blast and hope to be part of this great event in the future. We hope there was a lot of money raised for such a worthy cause!

The Royal Wedding Reception

They had a DJ at the reception. Woo hoo! And, did you hear the news? They played The Chicken Dance. Who knew it was an international wedding favorite? To top off the fun, Prince Harry supposedly did The Robot and The Worm on the dance floor. Hilarious!

Congratulations Meghan and Byron

This Ceremony and Reception were unique and beautiful. The Ceremony took place outside on the patio overlooking the golf course and the Reception followed indoors. The colors for this wedding were yellow and blue, and theme was kind of vintage/shabby chic. For a special touch, Byron and Meghan’s dog walked in the ceremony. He even wore a white collar for his attire.

Ceremony programs were something we’ve never seen before: vintage-looking, floral print handkerchiefs with the program printed on them. The wood and chalkboard-looking sign by them said ‘Take a program, dry your eyes.” That table had a vintage print floral tablecloth. The aisle runner also matched the theme, as it was beige, and a burlap-type material.

The Reception tables had ivory table cloths and the centerpieces were a bit different on each table. They consisted of an assortment of glass bottles with hydrangea and candles/candelabras, sitting on silver trays. The table numbers looked like old playing cards with the numbers one side. The yellow and white print napkins were tied with twine and had a small tag with the couples’ last initial. To tie it all together, we had amber uplights accenting the front of the room. They really pulled together the vintage feel of the room and accented the yellow beautifully.

Meghan was gorgeous in her fitted, strapless, ivory satin gown. She had a floral accent in her hair and carried a full bouquet of white and ivory flowers. Her Bridesmaids wore yellow, knee-length dresses and carried bouquets of blue hydrangeas. After the Ceremony, they all changed into matching blue tennis shoes. Byron and his guys all wore grey suits. They wore yellow ties while he wore a blue one. The little Flower Girl in her yellow dress was the cutest thing ever!

After the entrance and the couple’s First Dance (a friend played the guitar and sung while another friend played the bongo. That was a first, and they were good!), it was dinner time. The parents’ dances followed dinner and then it was party time. After a bit of dancing, we had the toasts and cake cutting.

The Best Man’s toast was hilarious and one of the funniest we’ve ever seen! He unexpectedly pulled out a guitar and played “Grow Old with You” from The Wedding Singer. Everyone was cracking up and we all loved it! The ‘cake’ was assorted flavors of cupcakes - yum! There was also one small cake for Meghan and Byron to cut for the pictures, and it was topped with two little wooden people dressed exactly like them. The cupcakes were arranged on a table with assorted glass plates and stands. The table was covered in ivory lace tablecloths: they were the perfect touch.

After lots more fun and dancing, and the throwing of the bouquet and garter, the night came to an end. Byron and Meghan ran through sparklers and drove off in a golf cart. Congratulations to the Newlyweds and enjoy your honeymoon in the Dominican Republic!

Congratulations Justin and Katie

This Reception brought us to South Shore Country Club and their beautiful new ballroom. They remodeled a little over a year ago and the room is now gorgeous! If you haven’t been there in a while, you should check it out. The coordinator, Victoria, is great to work with.

The colors for this wedding were navy blue and yellow and were perfect for spring. The tables had navy crinkle satin floor-length table cloths, and the white satin chair covers had yellow sashes. Each centerpiece consisted of yellow flowers and candles. Instead of table numbers, each table had a postcard from a destination Katie and Justin visited together. They were in yellow blocks with a navy ribbon.

Katie was so pretty in her gown. It was off white, strapless, with a beaded bodice. The simple satin ribbon waist fell to a soft skirt with lacy overlay. It was very elegant and had a vintage feel to it. Her Bridal Party wore blue gowns and carried yellow bouquets, similar to Katie’s. Justin and his guys wore black tuxes with yellow boutonnieres. They looked great!

There were some great, unique ideas at this Reception. For the guestbook, each table put their thumbprint on a matted painting of a tree, and signed their name. The sign next to it said, “Please leaf your thumbprint and sign your name.” (Hmmmm…. I may have to steal this idea for something. I don’t know what, but I loved it!) And the favors were perfect! They were assorted flavors of dehydrated ice cream in packets, just like the astronauts eat. Those were perfect for Newlyweds who work at NASA. Since the Ceremony was held outside, the guests also received personalized fan favors, so they could fan themselves in the warm air.

After the cocktail hour, dinner, and toasts, it was time for the First Dance. Katie and Justin did a bit of a switch-up. They started out with a slow song, and then we played the sound of a record screeching. Then it turned into Forever by Chris Brown. At first the guests didn’t know what was going on, and then they loved it!! After that dance, it was party time! This was another crowd who danced from the first song to the last, which we always love.

And now for the cake cutting – I don’t know what else to say except for the Groom’s cake was amazing!! It was a digital camera. It literally looked like a huge, oversized digital camera. It had the writing on it and everything was edible including the strap. And, there was a photo of Justin and Katie in the LCD screen. Guests couldn’t stop looking at it and taking pictures. Katie didn’t even want to cut it! Justin had to slice into it for the both of them.  Katie’s cake was beautiful. It had three, round, stacked white tiers. Each had matching designs and a white band around the bottom. The cake topper was so cute! It had a Lego Bride and Groom, and she was even holding a yellow Lego bouquet.

The Bouquet and Garter tosses were unique and fun. The catchers didn’t have to be single: the Bouquet toss was for all the women in the room and the Garter toss was for all the men. And, the lucky catcher of each also got a gift card. Woo hoo!

Finally the night wound down and Reception came to an end. After their Last Dance, Justin and Katie said farewell to their guests and made their exit in a Town Car. Congratulations and enjoy your Honeymoon cruise!

Congratulations T.J. and Amanda

This Ceremony and Reception brought us to Brady’s Landing, and took place on one of the prettiest days of the year. The colors were black and fuchsia and it looked great. The tables had black tablecloths, topped with centerpieces of fuchsia gerbera daisies in vases, with black sand in the bottom. They were surrounded by votive candles. There were pink napkins at each place setting.

To tie it all together, we placed four fuchsia uplights at the front of the room. They provided a gorgeous accent for the ceremony and allowed us to turn the lights down more when it was time to party. The uplights really made the room dramatic, elegant, and beautiful.

Amanda wore a white strapless gown with a long train. She carried a bouquet of white calla lilies, roses and stephanotis, with pink floral accents. Her Bridesmaids wore knee-length black dresses, with fuchsia sashes. They carried similar bouquets to Amanda’s, but theirs were pink with white accents. T.J. and his Groomsmen looked great in their black tuxes, vests and ties, with fuchsia boutonnieres.

After a sweet and funny Ceremony (Amanda yelled ‘Woo hoo!” after they were pronounced husband and wife. LOL) there was a cocktail time followed by the Reception. They were held in the same room, cabaret style. This style is great if you want to have the Ceremony and Reception in the same room, and don’t want guests to have to wait while they room is changed over.

The toasts came right after dinner, followed by the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake was beautiful! It had three white, round stacked tiers. Each tier had a fuchsia fondant ribbon at the bottom and a black damask print design on the front. There was one white calla lilly accenting each tier, and a fuchsia oval on the top with the couple’s last initial in black. The cake was elegant and I loved it! T.J.’s cake was pretty cool as well: it was a beach scene with water and sand, and seashells scattered around. There was a motorcycle on the ‘beach’ with a male and female crab near it. Oh, and I must mention their candy buffet, it was in shades of pink and black and they had little fuchsia favor boxes with their last initial on the front. It was awesome!

After the Cake Cutting, we moved on to the First Dance and Father/Daughter Dance. After that, party time! This group danced from the first song to the last, to all kinds of music from oldies to current. What fun! After some open dancing, the Money Dance, and a lot more dancing, it was time for the Bouquet and Garter. Following that, it was dancing to the end. T.J. and Amanda chose to stay until the very end of their Reception, to enjoy all the time they could with their friends and family. Finally, the night came to a close. The Newlyweds enjoyed their last dance before heading off to their new life together. Congratulations T.J. and Amanda!

Congratulations Brian and Ellen

The country club reception was so pretty and a perfect way to usher in spring. The colors were platinum and yellow, and I loved it! The tables had floor-length platinum satin table cloths, and the chairs had platinum satin covers with yellow sashes. Now here’s the cool part: apparently, both of the Newlyweds are chemists. So they incorporated a ‘chemistry’ theme into their wedding in some awesome ways! The centerpieces consisted of three ‘vases’, all shaped like large beakers or something you would find in a lab. One had a yellow rose, one had yellow rocks in the bottom, and the other had a yellow floating candle. To top it off, each table was named after an element on the periodic table. The favors consisted of yellow candies in personalized test tubes that said “Bonded for life.” How cute!

Ellen was so gorgeous in her slightly off white, strapless gown. It had an asymmetrical wrapped waist, and an A-line skirt. Her bridesmaids wore the prettiest yellow knee-length dresses with white sashes. The dresses had beautiful, white embroidered flowers on the skirt. They all carried bouquets of yellow flowers. Brian and his Groomsmen looked great in their grey suits. He wore a white tie while the guys wore yellow ties.

After a fun introduction of the Wedding Party and the special dances, it was time for dinner. The toasts followed dinner, and we had one we haven’t seen before: the Best Man reading his toast off his iPod. Then, we were on to the cake cutting. The cake was amazing: it had three, white, stacked tiers. The top and bottom tiers had yellow fondant bands around the bottom of each, with fondant ‘squares’ that were made to look like elements on the periodic table. The middle layer had a made-up element with their last initial and name, representing the new element they make together. It was so cool! After the cake cutting, it was party time!

Since this couple chose not to do the Bouquet or Garter, it was nonstop dancing until the end. This crowd danced to everything from slow to polka, but they really loved the current pop/hip hop hits. And they were hilarious! There was constant dancing, people trying to out-dance each other, jumping up and down, crazy dancing, singing along, you name it. Ellen and Brian had a blast, so did their friends and so did we. We had so much fun just watching!

After a long night of dancing, the evening came to a close. Brian and Ellen stayed until the end to say farewell to their guests after their Last Dance. Congratulations to these very much in love and very fun Newlyweds, and enjoy Wyoming!

Congratulations Julian and Jennifer

This congratulations goes out to personal family friends. For the first time in quite a few years, instead of working at a wedding, we got to be guests. We loved it! Strolling in through the front doors instead of rolling in through the loading dock, being asked if we'd like hand-passed hors d'oeuvres, watching the toasts without making sure the toast-er was holding the mic close enough to his/her mouth, dancing with friends, chatting with the people at our table, such FUN!

Jennifer and Julian had a 'love voyage' theme, since they love to travel. Everything from their invites to menu cards to decor to favors to cake design matched, and it all was pulled together beautifully. We had such a great time celebrating their wedding with them, their family, and friends.

Congratulations Lance and Shannon

Such a pretty day for an afternoon wedding! This reception took place at the historic Garten Verein in Galveston. They recently painted the building and it looks great! The colors for this wedding were navy and ivory. The tables had ivory floor-length linens, with navy pintuck overlays. The centerpieces consisted of ivory/off white hydrangea with curly willow in tall vases, with candles around the bottom. Each place setting had a silver charger and ivory napkins. The whole room was very elegant. As a surprise, a bagpiper played as the guests arrived, and led the Bride and Groom into the room as we introduced them. It was really cool! Another unique touch to this reception was the favors. They were personalized bottles of Jalapeno Hot Sauce.

Shannon looked perfect in her ivory satin gown. It had short, off the shoulder ruched sleeves, which matched the ruching on the bodice. It was very elegant. She had her hair in an updo with a beautifully embellished hair brooch above it. Her Maid of Honor wore a blue dress with one ruched shoulder and a ruched bodice. They both carried full bouquets of ivory flowers. Lance was handsome in his black tux with ivory shirt and vest. He wore a white boutonniere as did his best man.

After dinner and the special dances, we opened the dance floor. This crowd loved to dance, which you don’t always see when it’s still light outside, but they were on the dance floor from the very first song. They liked oldies, 80’s, pop, line dances, you name it. After a bit of dancing it was time for the toast and cake cutting. This was the first time we saw the Best Man toast with a flask. It cracked everyone up. The Bride’s carrot cake (yum!) had three, white, stacked tiers, each with white ‘stripe’ designs going down the sides. There were a few hydrangeas on each layer and more on top for the cake topper. The Groom’s purple and orange Clemson cake had a paw print on top.

Following the bouquet and garter tosses and more dancing, the reception came to an end. Shannon and Lance bid farewell to their guests and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations Lance and Shannon and enjoy Ireland!

Congratulations Nicholas and Brianna

This Ceremony and Reception brought us to The Lyceum in Galveston, which we love. Not only is the room gorgeous, but the owner Cynthia is wonderful as well. The colors for this wedding day were black, white, and red. The tables had floor-length white tablecloths with red overlays. The centerpieces consisted of vases with red and white flowers. There were customized boxes of white candies for favors.

Brianna wore a gorgeous fitted to the knees, white, strapless gown. It had ruching on the skirt, an embellished brooch at the waist, and a dramatic bustle at the bottom. Underneath were some tall red high-heeled shoes. Brianna wore a veil for the Ceremony and a feathered accent in the back of her hair for the Reception. Her Bridesmaids wore red floor-length gowns with a gathered bodice and strap across one shoulder. They all carried beautiful full bouquets of assorted red and white flowers. Nicholas looked great in his black suit, shirt, and vest. His Groomsmen all wore black suits as well, but with red shirts. They all wore white boutonnieres.

Following the Ceremony, dinner, the special dances, a bit of open dancing, and toasts, it was time for the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake had three stacked, white layers. There were no embellishments except for a few red and white flowers on each layer, and a silver double hearts topper. It was very elegant. The Groom’s cake was chocolate with dark chocolate drizzled on top, with chocolate covered strawberries. After the cake cutting, it was back to the dancing.

The Money Dance and Bouquet and Garter came later in the evening, after lots of fun dancing – and this group loved to dance to everything, especially line dances. I always say that if the Bride and Groom love to dance, the guests will also, and this night proved it! They were on the dance floor all night long! Finally the night came to a close, the last dance ended, and the Newlyweds ran through sparklers to their car. Congratulations Nicholas and Brianna and enjoy your Honeymoon cruise!

Another Great Time With Mainland Bank

This is the second year we’ve done the Preferred Customer Appreciation Banquet with the bank, and it’s always such a great time. You can tell they really do appreciate their customers! The banquet started with a cocktail hour, followed by a wonderful dinner. Then, an extremely talented magician did a show. After the show, we started playing while the casino tables opened up. The ‘gambling’ continued until the end of the evening, when door prizes given to some very lucky customers. What a great night! Thanks again Mainland Bank and we hope to see you next year.

Congratulations Wes and Eileen

What a great date for a wedding: 1-1-11. Who will ever forget that? The color for this wedding was navy, with accents of yellow and orange. It was very pretty! The tables had floor length white table cloths with orange floral centerpieces surrounded by candles. The chairs had white chair covers with navy ties.

Eileen was so pretty in her slim-fit, strapless gown. It had beaded accents, a halter neckline, and a sash waist. She carried a bouquet of assorted white flowers. Her Bridal Party wore navy knee-length gowns with halter necklines and carried orange and yellow bouquets. Wes wore a black tux with white vest, tie, and boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar attire but with grey vests and ties and yellow boutonnieres.

After dinner, it was time for the toasts. The Best Man cracked everyone up when he said that he brought a list of all the times Wes never followed his advice, then pulled out a list that was around 15 pages long. Then it was cake cutting time. The Bride’s cake was so pretty. It had four, white, stacked tiers. Each tier had elegant white scroll accents and a black ribbon at the bottom. There were a few orange flowers accenting each layer. The cake topper was the initials of “W” and “E” for Wes and Eileen. We joked that it was good to put their initials together in that order, so they were “WE” rather than “EW”. LOL Wes’ chocolate cake had the Texas Tech insigne on the top. Then we had the First Dance and Father/Daughter Dance followed by the Anniversary Dance. The longest married couple in the room had been married for 62 years, and they were Wes’ grandparents. What a great inspiration! When asked to give advice to the Newlyweds, the husband made everyone laugh when he said “Make love a lot”. His wife followed with the calmer advice of, “Be nice to each other.”

Following the Bouquet and Garter, and more dancing time, the night came to a close. The guests made sure to take their favors, which were fortune cookies in little Chinese take out boxes, with customized chopsticks tied to the top. Wes and Eileen ran through a shower of bubbles and headed off to their new life and relaxing Hill Country Honeymoon. Congratulations!!

Congratulations Brandon and Dana

What better way to celebrate a marriage than on New Year’s Eve? This fun reception took place down on The Strand, a great place for a party. As you can tell by the pictures, the Brandon in this wedding is the famous baseball player Brandon Backe. He and Dana are a great couple together, very nice, and such fun!

The colors for this wedding were black, red, and white, and they were perfect for a glamorous New Year’s Eve affair! The tables had black table cloths, and the centerpieces were tall vases filled with red sunken roses and red floating candles. They were surrounded by more red candles and red rose petals. Each guest received a custom champagne glass, with Brandon and Dana’s names and red hearts, for a favor. Very appropriate for the midnight toast!

Dana’s gown was gorgeous: white strapless, fitted to the hips, beaded embellishments, with an elegant train that bustled. Her hair was in low back bun, with red roses tucked in it. She wore amazing red and white rhinestone jewelry and red satin shoes. Very chic! To coordinate the look, Dana carried a bouquet of hand tied red roses with crystal accents. The Bridesmaids also had a very dramatic look for this wedding. They wore black, fitted, strapless, knee-length gowns, with their hair up as well. They wore pearl necklaces with red roses on one side, and sexy red high heels. The Flower Girls complemented the Bridesmaids with their red dresses. Brandon was handsome in his black tux, red shirt and tie, and white vest. His Groomsmen wore black as well, but with white shirts and red ties. The while group looked great!

After dinner, we were on to the cake cutting. The cake had four stacked, heart –shaped, white tiers, each with tiny black dot accents. There were red roses cascading down one side and a black “B” on the top. After the cake cutting, it was time for the special dances. Dana danced with her mother, and then Brandon danced with his. The Bouquet toss and Garter Removal and Toss followed, then party time!

This group was ready to dance from the very first song! Country, Oldies, Eighties, Hip Hop, Line Dances, it was all good! And we must say that Dana and Brandon are great dancers as well, and that always encourages the guests to join in. It was so funny when they ended up having a ‘dance off’ with each of them trying to outdo the other. Dana went down on the splits, and then Brandon followed! It was hilarious and everyone was cracking up. The party continued until midnight, when Brandon and Dana thanked their guests for coming, there were a few toasts, and we welcomed in the New Year with a countdown. The party continued a bit longer until the night came to a close. What a great way to spend New Years Eve!

Congratulations Clay and Kassie

This Wedding Ceremony and Reception were held at a unique location – The Music Hall at the House of Blues. Talk about an eclectic décor and awesome treat for the guests! The Ceremony took place on the stage, while the guests were seated in the Mezzanine, and the Reception was on the dance floor/lower seating area. The colors for this day were black and green. The tables had black cloths with green overlays. The centerpieces consisted of three hand painted bottles with assorted patterns. They were really cool and matched the style of the House of Blues. Kassie’s mom painted them – she is talented!

The ceremony was so beautiful. They had a black curtain backdrop with colored designs projected on it. The sides of the aisle had green petals and tall white damask print vases with candles. There were two tall floral vases at the beginning of the aisle, and tall, white, up lit gem trees at the back of the altar area. Add in the blue lights that made the whole area glow, and it was gorgeous.

Kassie was so pretty in her white, strapless gown. It had a sweetheart back, and the most incredible skirt with pick ups and rosettes. The bodice had an embellished front with asymmetrical wrap waist. The fitted gown flared right above the knees into a beautiful skirt and train. Kassie carried a hand-tied bouquet of green flowers. Her Bridal Party wore black, fitted, short dresses, and carried similar, but smaller bouquets. Clay was so handsome in his Marine Dress Blues. His Groomsmen all wore black tuxes, vests, and ties.

After the Ceremony and the cocktail hour, the couple was introduced in and went right to the First Dance, Father/Daughter/Mother/Daughter (Kassie danced with her mom as well), and Mother/Son dances. Following dinner came the toasts and cake cutting. The cake was made by one of the Bridesmaids and she did a great job! It had five, square, white, stacked tiers. Each had a green ribbon at the bottom and white decorative designs. There were a few green floral accents on each layer as well as on the top. The whole cake was sitting on low vases with candles. Clay and Kassie cut the cake with his sword, of course. Then it was Bananas Foster for everyone, a photo booth opened, and party time!

These guests loved to dance to all types of music. We stopped dancing for the Money Dance and the Bouquet and Garter tosses, but quickly got back to the dancing each time. When the night wound down to a close, Kassie and Clay ran though bubbles and jumped into their car. Congratulations to you both!!

This Sunday Ceremony and Reception were for the nicest couple. Although the guest list was on the smaller side, the most important people were there. So, it was perfect. The colors for this wedding were eggplant (dark purple) and white. It was so pretty! The tables had white floor length cloths with lavender overlays. The alternating centerpieces had either vases with assorted purple flowers or candles. The white satin chair covers had lavender ties.

Cara wore a gorgeous white strapless gown with eggplant colored sash. In the center of the sash was a beautiful rhinestone brooch. She had her hair in an up-do with a long flowing veil with beaded accents. Her Maid of Honor wore a long, strapless eggplant colored gown. Cara carried a beautiful bouquet of assorted purple flowers, tied with a black ribbon. The Maid of Honor’s bouquet was similar but smaller. Brent and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes, ties, and vests, and had eggplant colored boutonnieres.

After the ceremony and dinner, we were on to the First Dance, Father Daughter Dance, and Mother Son Dance. A heartfelt toast by Cara’s brother followed, and then cake cutting time! The cake was so pretty: three stacked white layers with an edible tree branch running up the front, with purple leaves. It was very elegant.

One thing I loved about this wedding, besides Cara and Brent – they are so nice! – was the kids. There were so many little ones there and they were all so cute. I loved playing with them and watching them dance. And I have to mention the favors. Each guest was given a jar of home-canned grape jelly, made by a friend. Each had a custom label on the front with Cara and Brent’s names, and purple ribbons were tied around the lid. The favors were so cool!

After more fun, dancing, and visiting with friends and family, the night came to a close. Brent and Cara got into their limo and headed off for their honeymoon. Congratulations and enjoy your cruise!

Congratulations Frank and Shannon

The location for this reception was absolutely gorgeous – The Clubhouse at Aliana in Richmond. It was unlike any community clubhouse we’ve ever seen! Soaring ceilings, parquet floor, large fireplaces inside and out, Tuscan-style architecture. It’s beautiful!

The colors for this December wedding were red, black, and white, and they were perfect for the season. The tables had red pin tuck overlays and the black Chivari chairs had black seat pads. Each place setting had a gold charger and the tables had high/low red floral arrangements surrounded by red votive candles. There were beautiful Christmas decorations throughout the venue, from trees to huge nutcrackers (6 feet tall!) to boughs of evergreen with candles.

Shannon was so pretty in her white strapless gown. It was fitted to above the knees, where it widened into a skirt. The elegant dress had gathers on the bodice and a corset back. She carried a beautiful bouquet of red roses wrapped in black ribbon. Her Bridal Party wore black, strapless, satin, knee-length dresses and carried similar, but smaller, bouquets. Frank is in the Marine Corps, so he wore his dress blues. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes with red rose boutonnieres.

After a wonderful dinner, it was time to move on to the toasts and cake cutting. The Bride’s carrot cake featured three, white, stacked layers. Each was accented with a few red roses. And of course, since Frank is in the Marines, they cut the cake with a sword. Then they moved on to the Groom’s ‘cake’. I say ‘cake’ because it wasn’t one at all. It was beautiful glass bowls filled with layers of pudding and crushed Oreo cookies. I think it’s called “Dirt”.

The First Dance and Father/Daughter Dance were followed by the Mother/Son Dance. It was so funny because it was obvious that Frank’s mom didn’t know what we were going to play. I set it up as a beautiful and meaningful song, and then we played The Devil Went Down to Georgia (chosen by Frank and Shannon, of course). It was so funny!

After a bit of dancing, and the reading of a funny poem written by the Groom’s cousin, we did the Newlywed Game. That’s where we ask the Bride and Groom a series of questions and we see if their answers match. It got a lot of laughs and was fun for everyone. Then we were back to more dancing.

Following the Bouquet and Garter (the Garter toss was funny – the guy who caught it was drinking a beer the whole time and never even spilled it!) and a lot more dancing, the night came to a close. Frank and Shannon ran through their guests, jumped in their car, and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!

This reception was at the Crowne Plaza River Oaks, and the ballroom and staff were great! It was special for us because we DJ’d Alyssa’s brother’s wedding in May. So it was our second wedding with their family, and they’re fun! (And it’s always nice to see one of our past couples).

The colors for this wedding were amethyst (purple) and green. The tables had floor length white table cloths, with candle centerpieces. The chairs had white satin covers with amethyst ties. Each place setting had a favor box wrapped in amethyst tissue tied with a green bow. We had three purple uplights along the main wall of the room, and they really tied together the whole look.

Alyssa wore a gorgeous slim-fitting, white, strapless gown. It had beading accents and flared near the bottom, and was perfect for her figure. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses accented with green flowers and had a floral accent on one side of her hair. The whole look was very elegant. Her Bridesmaids wore amethyst below the knee length gowns and carried similar, but smaller, bouquets. Eric looked great in his black tux with black vest and tie and white rose boutonniere. His Groomsmen all wore grey vests and ties.

After the seated meal, it was time for the First Dance, Father/Daughter, and Mother/Son Dance. The toasts came next and the Best Man was hilarious! Then, it was cake cutting time. The Bride’s cake had four, white, stacked tiers. Each has simple, elegant designs, and a white ribbon on the bottom of each. The topper consisted of white edible flowers which matched others that were scattered around the cake. Eric’s cake had three chocolate layers, each accented with greenery and edible designs.

After a bit of dancing, we were on to the Money Dance. This was one of the longer ones we’ve seen and it was a huge hit. The guests pinned the money on the Eric and Alyssa’s clothes (a Filipino tradition) and they were wearing lots money when the dance ended! Following the Bouquet and Garter, lots more dancing to all kinds of music, and an awesome dessert table of assorted pastries, the Newlyweds made their exit through a shower of bubbles.

This ceremony and reception took us to Rosemary’s Garden, on the west side of Houston. We haven’t been here in a while and loved their remodeled Chapel. It was so pretty! The colors for this wedding were marine (dark navy) and white. The tables had white table cloths and the chairs had white chair covers. The centerpieces had vases with tall calla lilies.

Michelle wore a white A-line gown of soft organza over satin. It had beading on the bodice and a gathered accent to one side. It had a corset back and a pretty bustle. She had the prettiest up-do with a tiara. Her Bridesmaids wore navy cocktail-length dresses with spaghetti straps. Their flowers were gorgeous: white rose bouquets with baby’s breath, and sparkling accents scattered throughout. They were hand tied with ribbon. The two little Flower Girls were so cute in their white dresses with navy sashes. Ash and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes with dark blue/navy vests and ties. They all had white rose boutonnieres to match the Bridesmaids.

After the introduction of the Newlyweds and dinner, it was time for the First Dance. It was so obvious how much this couple loves each other. So sweet! Following that was the Father/Daughter Dance at the same time as the Mother/Son Dance. Then, we were on to the cake cutting and toast. The Bride’s cake was so elegant and pretty. It had three stacked, white tiers, with silver and white ribbon around the bottom of each. Each tier and the top were decorated with white edible flowers. Ash’s cake was chocolate and had the couples’ initials on top. The toast was funny when the Best Man asked all the ladies in the room who had keys to Ash’s house/old apartments, etc to turn them in because he was now a married man. At least twenty women came up and turned in keys. And some men. LOL

Following the Bouquet and Garter, it was party time! The guests at this wedding wanted everything from oldies to hip hop to line dances to country, to everything in between. They were a lot of fun!

Finally, the night came to a close. The Newlyweds bid farewell to their guests, ran though bubbles, and headed off to their new life as a married couple. Congratulations Ash and Michelle!

This reception was a celebration for a couple who married eight years ago, but wanted a traditional church wedding mass and reception. The whole day was beautiful! The colors were apple green and brown. The chairs had apple green chair
covers and the centerpieces consisted of hurricane lamps over apple green taper candles.

Ritchie was gorgeous in her white strapless gown. It had beaded embellishments on the bodice and almost had a lace type look on the skirt. She wore a lace bolero jacket over top, which she removed later for dancing. She had her hair in a up do with a pretty embelished hairpiece. Ritchie carried a beautiful bouquet of pale green and white hydrangeas and roses. The Maid of Honor wore a brown strapless, floor-length gown, and carried a bouquet of green hydrangeas and roses. The women Sponsors wore apple green floor-length gowns with matching bolero jackets and carried bouquets similar to the Maid of Honor’s. The Flower Girls were so cute in their apple green dresses with brown sashes. Fred was very handsome in a black tux, white vest and tie, and white boutonniere. His Best Man, as well as the male Sponsors, wore green vests and ties with their black tuxes. The Bible, Ring and Cord bearers were so cute in white tuxes.

After the toasts it was time for the cake cutting. The cake was beautiful! It had four, round, stacked, white tiers, each with a brown scroll design running around each, and there were apple green colored flowers on the top and each layer. After the bouquet and garter (the bouquet catcher’s victory dance was so funny!), it was time to party! This group loved it all from Oldies to Line Dances to Swing to Hip Hop to Eighties to everything in between. They were on the dance floor from the first song to the last.

After two straight hours of dancing, the night came to a close and the happy couple made their exit. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness!

This small, family-oriented ceremony and reception were a bit different than our usual, but they were great! They took place in what used to be a restaurant, so it had two levels, and lots of neat décor. There was a built-in dance floor and bar, a pretty fireplace, and plenty of wood paneling. The tables were decorated with purple linens, and high low centerpieces of red, purple, and white flowers.

Carol wore a white floor length dress and carried a bouquet of assorted flowers. Dan was handsome in his tux and red boutonniere. After the ceremony in the adjoining room, the reception took place. Carol and Dan chose to not have any of the traditional formalities. After dinner, it was just family time and fun dancing until the end. We didn’t know what to expect, but this crowd was fun and they all had a great time on the dance floor, singing along as well. They danced to Oldies, 80’s, Disco, Zydeco, Country, Hip Hop, you name it!

As the night wound down, Dan and Carol stayed until end to bid their guests farewell. Congratulations to the Newlyweds and have a great time in New Orleans!

The beautiful sunny day brought us to Casa Mia, the event house at Villa Capri on Clear Lake. Their outside ceremony area is absolutely beautiful, as it’s right on the water with towering trees overhead. The colors for this wedding were black, purple, and silver, and they were so pretty together! The tables had white table cloths, with centerpieces of candles surrounded by purple roses.

Anna was gorgeous in her white, strapless, satin gown with long train. There was heavy beading right at the bust line, which was very pretty. The gown was accented by an elbow-length veil. Anna carried a hand-tied bouquet of purple flowers. Her Bridal Party wore black, satin, knee-length gowns, and carried smaller versions of Anna’s bouquet. Aaron was handsome in his black tux, dark purple vest and tie, and white boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar attire but with purple boutonnieres. They all looked great together!

Following dinner, the First Dance, and a bit of open dancing, it was time for the toasts and cake cutting. Anna’s cake had three, round, white, stacked tiers, each accented with black scroll designs and purple edible flowers. Aaron’s cake was a blue Igloo ‘cooler’ filled with Bud Light. It was awesome! After a nice cake cutting with no smashing, it was back to the party.

After the Bouquet and Garter, and plenty more dancing, the night came to an end. These Newlyweds, who obviously adore each other, ran through a shower of petals and jumped in their limo. Congratulations Aaron and Anna, and have a great time on your Las Vegas honeymoon!

Congratulations Wilson and Jennifer

This wedding reception took place at Wyndehaven Terrace in Northwest Houston. We love working here because the owners are great and the rooms are beautiful. The colors for the wedding were persimmon (a pretty coral/orange color), champagne, and gold. The tables had white cloths with champagne overlays, and the chairs had white covers with gold ties. The centerpieces alternated between high flowers with candles, and low bud vases with roses. All of them were surrounded by votive candles.

Jennifer was stunning in her long, off-white gown. It was strapless, with beading on the bodice and skirt, and a gorgeous bustle in the back. The skirt had a few long ‘layers’ of lacey looking beading and just sparkled. She wore a pretty veil in her up-do to complete the look. Jennifer carried a beautiful bouquet of roses, hydrangea, and other white flowers, all with crystal accents. Her Bridesmaids wore persimmon colored dresses, and carried bright bouquets of persimmon, orange, fuchsia, and green flowers. Wilson wore a black tux, white vest and tie, all accented by a white boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore the same tux but with black vests and ties, and persimmon colored boutonnieres.

After their entrance and first dance, it was time for dinner. During dinner, they had three different friends come up and sing, one accompanied by her dad playing the guitar, and they were all really good! Then, came the Father/Daughter dance, the Mother/Son dance, and a Grandparents dance. At that point, Wilson changed into a traditional Filipino barong and Jennifer changed into a knee-length champagne colored dress, so they could party!

After a bit of dancing, it was time for the toasts and cake cutting. Jennifer’s cake was so pretty: it had three stacked white layers, with a persimmon band around the bottom of each. The front of the cake had a cherry blossom design with edible gumpaste flowers. Wilson’s cake was cool: it was a football shape, with the Texan’s logo on the front. Then, it was bouquet and garter time. Jennifer gave us all a dance as she got ready to toss the bouquet: she is so funny! Then, Wilson gave Jennifer a dance as he got ready to remove her garter. What a perfect couple! LOL And, oddly enough, it turns out that the bouquet catcher and the garter catcher are a couple. Hmmm…. Are those future wedding bells I hear?

With the formalities done, it was party time until the end. This crowd danced to all types of music from Ballroom waltzes Oldies to Hip Hop to Pop to Country and everything in between. It really was funny when Jennifer got on the mic and sang/rapped to “California Gurls” by Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg. The night came to an end and Wilson and Jennifer ran through a shower of bubbles to their new life together. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon cruise!

Congratulations Tony and Sarah

We spent this sunny Sunday afternoon at the Olympia Grill on the Strand in Galveston. It was a smaller room than usual for us, but perfect for this more intimate wedding reception. The ceremony itself took place on the beach, so the colors of navy and pink were a nice complement.

The tables had white table cloths, with pretty sheer overlays. The centerpieces consisted of candles in glass vases, nestled in sand. To add to the décor, we had four hot pink uplights in the room, which added a great touch and emphasized their white and pink Japanese lanterns. There was a full-sized candy bar at each place setting, personalized with Tony and Sarah’s monogram. For fun, there were clear cubes on each table with pictures of the couple from childhood to the present. They also had a cool canvas hanging on the wall for the guests to sign. What a cool wedding keepsake!

Sarah wore an amazing white satin dress: it was strapless, cocktail length, and had ribbon tier accents from the top to the bottom. There were also ribbon flowers and beads embellishing the dress. The dress is hard to explain, but it had a vintage feel to it and it was beautiful! Sarah carried a bouquet of white flowers. Her Bridal Party wore a variety of knee-length navy gowns and carried white and pink bouquets. Tony wore a navy suit, white shirt, and pink tie, while his party wore navy pants, white shirts, and light blue ties. They all wore navy blue Keds. Perfect for an afternoon, beach wedding.

After the Tony and Sarah entered the reception, they went right into their first dance. Then it was dinner time. The guests enjoyed a variety of foods including Greek items like spanokapita and hummus. Following the dinner was the toast. It was one of the funniest toasts we’ve ever heard. The toaster wore a pirate eye patch for half of it (who knows, maybe an inside joke) and he had everyone cracking up. Then, it was time for the cake cutting. Tony and Sarah had a variety of cakes and cupcakes. Sarah’s cake was one single pink layer with a navy band around the bottom. Around that were an assortment of cupcakes, and a gluten free dessert for those who wanted it (and it was very good!). Tony’s cake was solid black with a black Batman symbol on top. Of course, this very fun couple had a great time acting up while doing the cake cutting. They were so funny! To top that off all those desserts, the guests got more sweets for dessert, including bite-sized tres leches, a Greek dessert, and others.

The Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance was also fun because the parents didn’t know what song they’d be dancing to. They were out on the dance floor with Tony and Sarah, in a classic slow dance position, and then we played Twist and Shout (planned, of course). The guests were cracking up! If you haven’t figured it out by now, this couple was so crazy and funny and you can’t help but have fun just being around them. After the Bouquet and Garter, in which Tony ‘hiked’ the garter to the guys like a football center, it was party time!

When it came to dancing, this group was a blast. They danced to everything and loved it all; singing along, being goofy (in a good way!) and having fun. Sarah even changed into navy Keds with pink laces so she could do the same. The Newlyweds stayed until the end so they could bid farewell to their guests, and then they headed off to their new life. Congratulations you two. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and Tony, we hope to see you acting on another prime time TV show soon!

Congratulations Gilbert and Nina

This beautiful reception took place at the Hotel Derek. The ballroom looked gorgeous with all the draping, uplighting, and specialty lighting. The whole room had a purple/pink/mauve glow. The colors for the wedding were Berry (dark plum) and sugar Plum (mauve pink).

The tables had floor length berry colored table cloths with champagne colored napkins. The champagne chair covers were tied with berry chair ties. The alternating high/low centerpieces had tall vases with floating candles or lower vases with mauve and plum roses. There were votives scattered around each centerpiece. The ballroom looked amazing: there was a white drape across the front of the room, with eight pink uplights shining up from the bottom. There were two lights on the side of the room directing a floral/vine pattern onto the drape. And, we had eight purple uplights glowing upwards along the walls of the room. It was so pretty! If I haven’t said it enough times before, uplights transform a pretty room into a dramatic one!

Nina was so pretty in her white gown. It had an off the shoulder neckline, a fitted bodice, and a full bustled skirt. She carried a bouquet of mauve and plum roses, each accented with crystals. Her bridesmaids each wore a floor-length berry satin gown with a sugar plum colored sash, and carried a similar bouquet. Gilbert was handsome in his black suit, white shirt, pink tie, and white boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar attire, but with pink boutonnieres.

After the introductions of the Entourage (meaning the sponsors, wedding party, and parents) the Bride and Groom had their first dance. Then, it was time for dinner and the guests had quite a treat. One of the Groomsmen played guitar and sang, to warm up the crowd, and then Ira Perez (a well known singer and guitar player in Houston) did a set. To make dinner even better, lechon (a traditional Filipino roast pig) was served. You can’t have a party without it!

After dinner, it was cake cutting time. Nina’s cake had four, stacked, square layers, with elegant accents on each, a berry colored band on the bottom of the tiers, and a white bow on top. Gilbert’s cake was a chocolate Texas shape, with the classic UT clock tower on top. Of course, the Newlyweds got a picture of all the UT alumni in the room around the cake. Following that were the Father/Daughter dance, the Mother/Son dance, and then Gilbert danced with his new Mother-in-law while Nina danced with her new Father-in-law. I must say that it is so obvious how much these families enjoy being with each other, love each other, and have so much fun together!

The Bouquet and Garter were unique tonight: the lucky catcher of the bouquet also got a Victoria’s Secret gift card, and the garter catcher got a Best Buy card. You know they loved that! When the dance floor was open, it was party time! This group danced to everything, even Tango, Cha Cha, Waltz, and Swing (and there were some great dancers). Big hits were also line dances, 80’s, Hip Hop, you name it! We also provided our Party Package, where we give the guests props while dancing, like leis, maracas, hats, etc. At one point, Gilbert was dancing with a tiara on his head and a pink feather boa around his neck. Too funny!

There were a few other unique aspects of the night. There was a photo booth with props set up in the hallway and that was a big hit. There was also a candy buffet of three different types of popular Filipino candies. Everyone loved them! The night wound down to a close and the Newlyweds stayed until the end to wish their guests farewell. Congratulations Nina and Gilbert and enjoy your Las Vegas honeymoon!

Congratulations Adam and Powana

This reception took place at the Petroleum Club downtown, which has an amazing view! And, the coordinators there are amazing: you’re in great hands. The colors for this wedding were orange, pink, and green. (Well, Tennessee orange, to be exact. Adam is a huge Tennessee Vols fan so that color had to be included.)

The tables were covered in floor-length pink tablecloths, and the white chair covers had orange ties. The centerpieces consisted of tall vases with river rocks on the bottom, orange rocks above them, and a beautiful orchid on top. They were surrounded by pink, orange, and green votive candles.

Powana was gorgeous her strapless gown. It had a two-tiered skirt, with breaded/lacey accents. She had a long veil with lace accents on the edge and the combination was beautiful. She carried a bouquet of green orchids. Powana’s Bridesmaids wore long gowns of emerald green satin and carried bouquets of orange and pink flowers. Adam was handsome in his black tux, white vest and white tie. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes and black vests, with green ties. Before entering the reception, they changed into orange ties, to honor Tennessee. (Funny thing: Adam loves Tennessee so much that he had us make an announcement that nobody was to tell him the score of the game because was TIVOing at home and didn’t want it ruined.)

Powana and Adam did their first dance after their introduction, and then it was on to dinner. After dinner, it was cake cutting time. The Bride’s cake had three stacked white tiers, the top and bottom one had icing dots on them. A pink satin ribbon band encircled the bottom of each layer. There were gorgeous green orchids that matched Powana’s bouquet, trailing down the tiers. The cake topper featured a Bride in her gown and a Groom in the Marine Dress Blues. Adam’s cake had a Bride and Groom driving away from their wedding on a motorcycle. Very cute!

The toasts came next, and I must comment on one of the toasts. Powana’s father did a speech, and while it was probably the longest one we’ve ever seen (15 minutes or so) it was also one of the funniest, most heartfelt, and loving as well. You could see how much this father and daughter love each other. Her dad was also genuine in his welcoming Adam to the family. Next came the Father/Daughter dance and the Mother/Son dance, and then it was party time!

After the Bouquet Toss and Garter Removal & Toss, and plenty more dancing, the night wound down to an end. Adam and Powana ran through a shower of rose petals and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations and enjoy your Tennessee (where else?) honeymoon!!

Congratulations Stu and Jeanna

This elegant ceremony and reception took place at the Safari Texas Ballroom in Richmond. The ceremony was held at the gazebo outside the Veranda ballroom, and the reception took place inside.

The colors for this wedding were black and white. The tables had white tablecloths over black, with sheer silver overlays on top. There were black chargers and napkins at each place setting, with candle centerpieces. The chairs had white chair covers and black ties. Each guest received a bag of candy tied with black and white ribbon, as well as personalized fans at the ceremony site.

Jeanna was elegant and beautiful in her white chiffon gown. It had simple beading on the bodice and softly fell to a sweep train skirt. Jeanna wore a sheer organza bolero over the gown. It came together perfectly with her beaded hair pin and updo. The Bridesmaids wore floor length gowns with a white halter style bodice and black skirt. They all carried bouquets of white and red flowers, with Jeanna’s having extra lilies. Stu looked great in his black tails with white vest, tie, and boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes with black vests and ties, with red boutonnieres.

After dinner, the toasts (very funny!!), the special dances, and some open dancing, it was time for the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake had three stacked, white, round tiers, each with elegant black scroll designs. The Groom’s cake was chocolate with the couples’ initials and a funny cake topper of a Groom trying to run away from the Bride.

Dancing continued, with a Money Dance as well, and the night would down to the end. Jeanna and Stu ran through a shower of bubbles, hoped in their car, and left for their new life and honeymoon in Scotland. Congratulations and have a great honeymoon!

This sunny ceremony and reception took place at The Admiral. The ceremony was outside on the patio, which overlooks Clear Lake, and the reception was in the ballroom. The colors for the day were turquoise, teal, navy, and white. They were perfect for a wedding on the water.

The ballroom décor was gorgeous! The tables had white table cloths with turquoise overlays. The high centerpieces consisted of tall white vases filled with white feathers. They were so cool! The low centerpieces consisted of white roses. The chairs had white satin covers with turquoise ties. There were menu cards at each place setting, printed in blue ink, which matched the ceremony programs. The navy napkins tied in with the whole theme. Each guest received a pretty blue gel votive candle with sand and seashells in the bottom. To top it off, there were white and turquoise Japanese lanterns hanging from the ceiling. It was all perfect for a sunny water-view wedding!

Erica was beautiful in her strapless, ivory, fitted gown. It had beaded accents on the bodice with a long train that ended up in a French bustle. Her veil had beaded accents on the edge, which matched her gown. She carried a bouquet of white roses with white feather accents, hand tied with a white ribbon. Erica’s Bridesmaids wore turquoise knee length dresses and carried matching bouquets. Each wore a pretty turquoise feather accent in her hair. After the ceremony, Erica removed her veil and put on a matching white feather hair pin. Kenny and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes, and while his had a white vest and tie, the Groomsmen wore turquoise vests and ties.

After an Italian dinner, the special dances, and guests enjoying an attended coffee bar, it was time for the champagne toast and the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake was beautiful: 3 white, stacked tiers, with an occasional diagonal stripe of navy, turquoise, or teal. There was a simple white rose accent on each layer, with their last name initial on the top. It was really unique and I loved it. Kenny’s cake was amazing! It was a redfish (I think) with a tackle box, and it looked real. Following the toasts and cake cutting, it was party time! This crowd wanted all types of music from Rat Pack to Punk to Rock to 80’s to Hip Hop, and they danced to it all. How fun!

I can’t forget to send a big thanks to the Matron of Honor Kelly and her husband Joey. We did their ceremony and reception four years ago and they recommended us to Erica and Kenny. And, they now have a beautiful little girl in addition to their son. Thanks for the referral!

Finally the night wound down and Erica and Kenny ran through a shower of bubbles to their car. Then, off to their newlywed life and a tour of the California coast. Congratulations!

This summer reception brought us to Pine Forest Country Club, with its dramatic entryway staircase. The coordinator here, Jeanette, is great: she’s worked here for a long time and really knows what she’s doing.

The colors for this wedding were charcoal grey and dark purple. The tables had soft purple/plum pin tuck linens and the chairs had grey satin chair covers. The high/low centerpieces consisted of purple orchids submersed in water, with lights in the bottom. They were surrounded by candles.

Larissa was beautiful in her off white strapless gown. It was fitted to the hips with a softly flared skirt. The asymmetrically wrapped bodice had beaded embellishments and a corset back. The skirt had a pretty draped bustle in the back. Larissa’s hair was in a beautiful updo with small pearls scattered throughout the back. She carried a hand tied bouquet of purple calla lilies. The Bridesmaids each wore pretty floor-length grey satin gown, with a corset back and beaded accents along the bust line. They carried hand tied bouquets of assorted purple flowers. Jonathan and his Groomsmen matched in their black tuxes, grey vests and ties, and purple boutonnieres.

The dancing started off with the Grand March. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a (usually) Czech tradition where two lines of people follow go around the room, do all kinds of neat things, and end up in a big circle. That’s when the Bride and Groom do their First Dance. That was followed by the Father/Daughter Dance and Mother/Son Dance. The toasts and cake cutting followed, then party time!

The cake was a bit different at this wedding. It was Crave cupcakes, and six different flavors sure to please everyone. Then, after the cake was ‘cut’, there was a yogurt bar opened. You could have vanilla or chocolate, then different toppings. To add to the sugar rush, there was also a candy buffet. The guests loved it all!

After a lot of dancing and the bouquet and garter, then night came to a close. Larissa and Jonathan run through sparklers, jumped in to their limo, and headed off to their new life as a married couple. Congratulations!

This sunny summer day brought us to Garten Verein in Galveston. We’ve played here quite a bit over the years and it’s a favorite of Brides of Grooms for its historic charm. The colors for the day were black, white, and pink, and it was so pretty! The tables had floor length white table cloths with black pin tuck overlays. The chairs had white satin chair covers with black ties. Each place setting had a silver charger with a white napkin in a silver holder. The centerpieces alternated high/medium/low. The high ones were in tall silver candelabras with white hydrangea, fuchsia colored roses, and candles. The medium ones were in beautiful white vases with black damask designs and similar flowers. The low centerpieces had bowls of white and pink flowers. All were surrounded by candles and the whole look was gorgeous!

Kristin wore a beautiful white gown with a beaded bodice and halter style neck. The full skirt of white satin had the prettiest details and small pick ups, and the back bustle had beaded accents on it. She carried a bouquet of white and pink roses tied with a white ribbon. Her Bridesmaids wore a variety of black knee length gowns, and carried bouquets of pink roses. Tyler wore a black tux with white tie and vest, and his Groomsmen wore black vests and ties. They all looked great!

A unique part of this reception was the singers. For the First Dance, Tyler’s dad sang the song, and he was good! Then for the Mother/Son dance, Tyler’s sister sang. He comes from a talented family! The Father/Daughter dance was so sweet: Kristin was crying and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. After the special dances and some open dancing, it was time for the toasts and cake cutting. The cake was perfect: three square, stacked, white layers. There was a black ribbon at the bottom of each layer, with pink roses covering the top of the cake and down one corner.

Kristin had said that this crowd loved to dance and party, and she was right! They danced to everything from Spanish to Oldies to Pop/Top 40 to Country. What a fun crowd! But, after a long night of partying, the night came to a close. The Newlyweds stayed until the end to bid farewell to their guests, then left for their new life as a married couple. Congratulations and enjoy your Florida honeymoon!

This reception was at on of our favorite venues: Bay Oaks Country Club. A unique aspect of this reception was that we provided the DJ services at the Bride’s sister’s wedding four years ago. The past Bride was now the Matron of Honor and was there with her husband and cute little boy. It was so great to see the whole family again: they are a really nice bunch and it’s always a pleasure to work with them.

The colors of the wedding were teal and white, with bright floral accents. The tables had white cloths with white napkins and the chairs had white chair covers with teal sashes. The high/low centerpieces had either white candles in hurricane lamps or tall vases with a variety of teal flowers.

Mallory accented her slim figure perfectly in a white gown that was fitted to the hips, with a gorgeous full train that bustled in the back. It had smooth satin at the bust and skirt, with beading around the waist. With a white headpiece and veil atop her up do, she was beautiful! Mallory carried a hand-tied bouquet of assorted orange, yellow, and fuchsia flowers. Her Bridesmaids wore floor-length teal gowns and also carried bright bouquets. Brandon wore a black tux with a white tie and vest, and his Groomsmen wore teal vests and ties to match the Bridesmaids. The guys all wore matching rose boutonnieres.

After the special dances and the toast, it was time for the cake cutting. Mallory’s cake had five white layers, square on top and bottom with rounds in between, with a criss-cross design on each. There were a few bright flowers accenting each layer and surrounding the monogram cake topper. Brandon is a firefighter, so his cake had the firefighter emblem on top.

Then it was back to the dancing. This crowd definitely like country music, but they danced to it all, from Slow to Pop to Oldies. Near the end, it was getting pretty wild on the dance floor! After the Bouquet and Garter, and lots more fun on the dance floor, it was time for the Newlyweds to make their exit. They ran through a shower of bubbles and sparklers, climbed in their car, and headed off to their new life. Congratulations Brandon and Mallory!

We had a great time last Saturday and Sunday at the Bridal Extravaganza. We met lots of great Brides and Grooms, and look forward to working with many of you in the future.

High atop One Shell Plaza, with its floor to ceiling windows, the Downtown Club at the Plaza was a beautiful place for this reception. We haven’t been here in a few years and it was nice to be back. Jason, the Coordinator was a great guy to work with as well.

The colors for this reception were green, brown, and ivory, and were perfect for the room. The tables had ivory tablecloths and ivory napkins. The elegant centerpieces consisted of tall vases, with alternating orchids and calla lilies sitting in a few inches of rocks and water. Each table was named after a location at Duke University that was special to Dave and Alyssa. For favors, each place setting had a small envelope tied with a green ribbon, filled with Texas wildflower seeds.

Alyssa wore a beautiful gown that had a vintage feel to it. It was strapless, champagne colored, with beaded embellishments. The skirt had layers of soft tulle over satin, which fell to the floor. The champagne satin sash completed the antique look. It was simply gorgeous! Alyssa carried a full bouquet of ivory and green flowers wrapped in an ivory ribbon. Her Bridesmaids wore brown, knee length dresses and carried bouquets of assorted ivory and green flowers, tied with an ivory ribbon. Dave and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes with black vests and ties, with green orchid boutonnieres.

After dinner, the special dances, and the toast, it was time for the cake cutting. Alyssa’s cake had three stacked tiers, with pretty scroll designs. The middle tier had the couple’s monogram, and each tier had a green ribbon at the bottom. The top had a beautiful cluster of ivory roses and green orchids. Dave’s cake was a Duke basketball court. It was pretty cool!

For the Bouquet and Garter, we did the Anniversary Dance instead of doing the traditional Bouquet Toss. The longest married couple (46 years!) was given the bouquet and gave some words of advice to Alyssa and Dave. Then, we did the traditional Garter removal and toss.

When it was time for dancing, this crowd was a blast! They were so much fun and liked to dance to everything, and occasionally sang along as well. They had a great group of dancers. From Oldies, to Hip Hop, to Country, they liked it all. The dance floor was packed all night long and they were so much fun! The night came to an end, and the Newlyweds ran though bubbles to head off to their new life. Congratulations!

Congratulations Brian and Rachel

This reception was held at the Wildcat Golf Club, which is the preferred club of all the professional sports teams in Houston – how cool! We’ve never played here before, and we found the staff and the Food and Beverage Manager Cindy, to be friendly and helpful. We definitely look forward to working here more often.

The colors of this wedding were red, blue, and green. At first I didn’t understand why, until I discovered that Brian is Scottish and they chose the colors from a Scottish plaid pattern. Brian wore a plaid print tie in those colors, and the Bridesmaids had the same print as a sash around their dresses.

I must tell you about Rachel’s white dress: I loved it! It was so unique and beautiful. It had short sleeves, and a row of tiny buttons down the front. The fabric was, I don’t know how to describe it, but kind of like a sheer layer of a white floral print over the other layers. Rather than have the more traditional skirts that we’re used to seeing, the dress simply fell in soft folds to the floor, with a small sweep train in the back. The dress had an almost vintage feel to it. To top it off, Rachel wore a thin head band of pearls. She carried a bouquet of white flowers with red floral accents. The Bridesmaids wore dark blue knee-length dresses with a Scottish print sash, and red shoes. (I loved that touch!) They carried bouquets of white hydrangeas tied with the same Scottish plaid fabric as on their dresses. Brian wore a dark suit with his plaid tie, and a red boutonniere, and his Groomsmen wore dark ties with white boutonnieres.

After Brian and Rachel made their entrance and had their first dance, it was time for dinner. Following the nice buffet, it was on to the toasts and cake cutting. This couple chose Bavarian cheesecake wedding cakes, and everyone loved them! Rachel’s cake had three, white, stacked, square layers, with black ribbon at the bottom of each. The couple’s monogram was on each side of the middle layer. Brian’s cake was pretty cool: it was chocolate, with the World Series of Poker logo on the top. I think we know what he likes to do in his spare time!

After the cake cutting, we did the parent’s dances, and the way this couple did it was a bit unique. After Rachel danced with her father for a minute or so, we invited all fathers and daughters in the room to join them on the dance floor. It got pretty packed. Brian did the same with his mother, as we invited all the mothers and sons in the room to join them. Again, the dance floor was filled. It was really nice, and showed how this couple places an emphasis on family. After that, party time!

This group wanted music that was a bit out of the norm, and it was a perfect reflection of Brian and Rachel. No country (Yes, you can have a great wedding in Texas without country music.), very few of the current top 40/Hip Hop songs, and more of the older fun artists like Beastie Boys, and Run DMC. You can have fun on the dance floor with all those great oldies! Rachel and her friends were out there most of the night, and a few of the Groom’s friends out there dancing were hilarious (you know who you were)! And the group of you guys at the end – you were cracking me up!

After the Bouquet toss and plenty more dancing, the night wound down and the Newlyweds headed off to their new life as husband and wife. Congratulations!

Congratulations Wes and Celina

This wedding took place at the Garten Verein in Galveston. Everyone loves this octagonal-shaped historic dance hall, and it’s a favorite for wedding receptions. The colors for the day were black and white, with a touch of pink. The tables had floor-length white table cloths with black pin tuck overlays. The chairs had white satin chair covers with black ties. The alternating high/low centerpieces consisted of assorted white and pink flowers, with candles around the base.

Celine wore a gorgeous white, strapless gown. It had all over beaded accents with gathers of smooth white satin wrapping around the gown, held in place with decorative accents. There were gathers and pick ups all around the bottom of the gown, with more in the back from the bustle. They really added to the drama of the gown. In her hair, Celina had a simple beaded accent on one side, which was very elegant, and perfect on her. She a bouquet of assorted white and pink flowers hand tied with white ribbon. To finish off the look, she wore the most awesome hot pink shoes! The Bridesmaids wore black knee-length dresses, and carried smaller versions of Celina’s bouquet. Wes was handsome in his black tux, white vest, and white tie. He wore an elegant white boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar black tuxes and boutonnieres.

After dinner and the toasts, it was time for the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake consisted of three stacked tiers, with a few white daisies accenting the layers. The Groom’s cake was white with chocolate ‘dripping’ down the sides, and the Texas A&M logo on the top. (To add to the A&M touches, they had a Texas A&M card box as well.) They had a nice cake cutting, no smashing, and on to the special dances. Following the special dances – party time!

Celina had told me that this group loved dancing, and she wasn’t kidding. She was a dancer in high school, at A&M, and then spent four years as a Houston Texans dancer. No wonder Celina and all of her friends could dance so well! It was evident that they all loved to dance, from Hip Hop to Oldies to Country to anything else you could think of. They had a lot of fun on the dance floor!

There were a few other really cool touches to this wedding reception. For one, they had a photo booth. There were all kinds of fun hats and props for the guests to use, and the pictures were put in a scrapbook for Wes and Celina to keep. The pictures and the captions were so funny! Another neat touch was the trolley. They had a trolley shuttling guests back and forth from the church to the reception, and then back to their hotel. That was an especially great idea for the guests who want to drink but not worry abut driving.

After a fun night of dancing, and the bouquet and garter, the night came to a close (although I think this crowd could have partied all night long!). Celina and Wes bid farewell to their guests, hopped aboard their trolley, and headed off to their new life. Congratulations!

Congratulations Ace and Andrea

This elegant, beach-themed wedding reception took place at the Hotel Galvez, which was the perfect location. I never knew you could mix black, white, seashells, and elegance together, but this couple did it and it was beautiful! The tables had floor-length black pin tuck linens with white napkins, and white chair covers. The flowers were gorgeous. They were done by Ace and his coworkers (it turns out that he is a Floral Designer, and a good one that that!) There were three alternating centerpieces: tall vases with calla lilies, shorter vases with orchids in water with and seashells and lights, and wide vases with pillar candles of assorted sizes in sand and shells surrounded by shells on the table. To tie in with the theme, the tables were named after places in Galveston, such as “Moody Mansion” and “Seawall Boulevard.”

Andrea was so beautiful in her strapless, ivory gown. It had a fitted, gathered bodice with a low bustle. The matching veil had lace edging and was pinned into her updo. Andrea e carried an elegant full bouquet of white calla lilies, hydrangea, roses, and others. Her Bridesmaids wore black-knee length gowns and carried bouquets of yellow and white calla lilies and hydrangeas. Ace looked great in his black tux, black shirt, ivory tie and vest, and white calla lily boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore all black, with their white ties and yellow boutonnieres being their only color. The fun part was the guy’s shoes: Ace wore white Converse and the Groomsmen all wore black Converse.

After a nice seated dinner, it was time for the special dances. You should have seen Ace dancing with his mom – it was awesome, and they rocked the dance floor!! Not to be outdone, Andrea and her stepfather did a great job as well. As soon as we met this group, we knew they’d be a lot of fun, and we’re right! Once the special dances were over, it was party time. They danced to everything from Salsa to Michael Jackson to Country to everything else you can imagine. A few times, half the room was singing along to the music. When we played “Conga”, they spontaneously started doing a Conga line on the dance floor. And Ace, the Groom, was hilarious! He was the king of the dance floor, and for a good reason. Later, a group of people basically reenacted the dance scene from Footloose, with the guys on one side of the dance floor and the ladies on the other side, dancing towards each other. It was so funny! Later, Andrea jumped into Ace’s arms as he spun her around like in Dirty Dancing. They also did the dance from Thriller, and others. Like I said, this group was fun!

When it was time for the cake cutting, the guests were in awe of the amazing cakes. The Bride’s cake had five white tiers, with a black ribbon at the bottom of each. A few orchids and calla lilies were on each tier and the top. It was very elegant. The Groom’s cake was incredible! It was a Jeep. Not a flat cake with a Jeep on top, but the whole cake was shaped like Ace’s Jeep. It had the tires, grill, seats, a windshield, everything. And most of it was edible. It was sitting on a base of ‘sand’ (brown sugar) and shells, with a few palm trees around it. Just amazing!

After more dancing, the Dollar Dance, and the Bouquet and Garter, and the guests enjoying the chocolate candy buffet, the night sadly came to an end. I think this crowd could have danced all night long! Ace and Andrea ran out through a shower of petals, jumped into their limousine, and headed off to their new life. Congratulations you two!

Congratulations Ronnie and Valerie

This ceremony and reception brought us to a venue at which we have never performed: Hidden Palms in Santa Fe. It’s so pretty! Valerie and Ronnie got married on the island, which is accessed by a bridge, and sits on a pond. The island looks like its right in the middle of a sandy beach, complete with palm trees. The reception itself was indoor/outdoor, with the dinner, toast, and cake cutting taking place inside, while the dancing took place outside.

The colors for the wedding were eggplant (dark purple) and silver. The tables had white table cloths with a wide silver ribbon as a runner, purple floral centerpieces, and silver votive candles. The chairs had white satin chair covers with eggplant ties. It was all very pretty.

Valerie looked gorgeous! Her white satin gown has beautiful in its simplicity. The only embellishment was two rows of beaded accents running around the waistline. She carried an elegant bouquet of white calla lilies. The three girls who walked in the ceremony wore dresses in assorted shades of purple and silver and carried small bouquets of purple and white flowers. Ronnie was handsome in a black tux with a grey vest and tie.

After a delicious dinner and a very nice toast by the father of the Groom, it was cake cutting time. Valerie’s white cake had three stacked tiers, with different designs on each. It was topped by purple and white flowers. Ronnie’s chocolate cake had green ‘grass’ on the top with a large Titleist ‘golf ball’ coming out of it. I guess we know his favorite hobby!

Then it was the first dance, and it was awesome! Right at the end of the song, the venue shot off fireworks. Talk about spectacular! Following was the parent’s dance, and it was on to party time. This crowd was all about Hip Hop, Top 40, and plenty of Jay-Z. But finally, the night came to an end and the Newlyweds headed off to their new life as a married couple. Congratulations!

This Prom was for the 8th grade graduating class of Austin Middle School. The kids were great and danced all night. Some of them never left the dance floor. I think we had as much fun as they did! The parents and staff of the school did a great job decorating. The theme was “The Sea of Dreams”, so they had seashells and messages in a bottle as décor on the tables. There were white, blue, and sea green balloons decorating the room. We had blue colored wash uplights to add to the under the sea feel. Congrats again to the the kids, best wishes as they move on to high school next year. We had a great time and we hope you did as well!

This reception was at the recently renovated University of Houston Hilton. If you haven’t been there in a while, you should go check it out. The hotel is completely updated and looks beautiful! The colors for this wedding were coral and yellow, which complemented the spring wedding. The tables had white table cloths and napkins, with white satin chair covers. The centerpieces consisted of alternating yellow flowers or white candles. To tie in the colors perfectly, we had seven amber uplights in the room, accenting the walls and the cakes. They transformed the room and give it an elegant glow!

Kristen was gorgeous in her white gown. It had a sheer overlay with beaded, lace accents. The skirt bustled beautifully, with layers cascading down the back. To match, she wore a long white mantilla style veil with a lace accent around the whole edge. It was so beautiful! Kristen carried a full, pretty bouquet of assorted coral colored flowers. Her Bridesmaids wore coral, floor-length satin dresses with rhinestone brooch accents in the back. They carried coral colored calla lily bouquets, wrapped with satin ribbons. Ron was so handsome in his black tux, vest, and tie. He wore a coral colored calla lily boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes as well, but with coral colored ties and vests.

After a nice seated meal, two great toasts, and some dancing, it was time for the cake cutting. Kristen’s cake had four white, separated tiers, each with yellow trim and minimal yellow, edible floral accents. The top consisted of yellow and coral flowers, with a small owl Bride and Groom. Ron’s cake was the UT Longhorn shape, in burnt orange, of course. After the cake cutting, it was back to the party.

After a few dances, and the Money Dance, danced floor was really going crazy! From the Cupid Shuffle, to the Boot Scootin Boogie, to Boom Boom Pow, to Suavamente, this crowd was full of dancers (and good ones, too)! At one point, Kristin was doing the dance to “Single Ladies” with a crowd around her. Then Ron joined in and it was hilarious: they were awesome!

After the Bouquet and Garter and plenty more dancing, including the last dance, the night sadly came to an end. Kristen and Ron said their goodbyes, ran through a shower of petals, and headed off to their honeymoon in Paris and their new life as a married couple. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!

Three weeks in a row at the same location and one of our favorites: Bay Oaks Country Club. Today’s colors were Watermelon pink and Apple green. The colors looked great in the room, as they made everything so spring-like and pretty. The tables had floor length white table cloths with white napkins (and cute napkin rings that looked like engagement rings). The chair covers were white satin with pink sashes. The centerpieces were alternating high/low. All tables had six tall glass vases of assorted heights, filled with pink rocks in the bottom, pink water, and white floating candles. Every other table had the tallest vase filled with white and pink cherry blossoms. And to tie it all together, we had four pink uplights along the wall of windows. The reception was so pretty!

Mackaela’s gown was so beautiful! It had a heavily beaded bodice with a lace up corset back. It also had thin spaghetti straps, a full pick up skirt, and a long train. She was gorgeous! Her Bridesmaids wore apple green strapless, floor-length satin gowns and carried pink, white, and green bouquets. Bobby wore a black tux with a white vest, and had a white boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes with light sage vests and red rose boutonnieres. They were the perfect colors for this spring wedding.

After dinner and the special dances, we were on to the toast and cake cutting. The Bride’s cake had three, white, stacked tiers. It had apple green fondant swags draping down the sides, and was accented and topped with edible calla lilies. It was very elegant. The Groom’s cake was made to look like an Igloo cooler, and it had a bottle of his favorite alcohol sticking out of the top. There was a tiny bit of cake smashing involved, but it was cute and fun, and not too much. Then, the dance floor was open!

We started out the dancing with the Money Dance, and then it was party time! I think the favorite songs for the night were Baby Got Back, Shout, and the Cha Cha Slide. Oh, I forgot to mention all the kids at this reception. They were so cute, and they were on the dance floor all night, even the little bitty ones.

The Bouquet and Garter at this reception were a bit different. After the bouquet toss for the adult women, there was a bouquet toss for the children. The same thing was done for the garter: one for the adult men, then for the children. It was a nice way to include the kids in the activities, especially since there were so many.

The dancing continued until the evening came to a close. The Ring Bearers rolled out a white carpet to the limo, and then Mackaela and Bobby ran through a shower of bubbles to their limousine. Congratulations to you two!

This reception again took us to one of our favorite venues: Bay Oaks Country Club. The colors of the wedding were white and pool/light aqua. The tables had floor length white table cloths with white napkins. The chair covers were white satin with pool-colored ties. The centerpieces were a high/low combination. The tall ones had very tall vases with tall curly willow, white orchids, and white and blue hydrangea. They had blue lights submersed in the water and sparkling bead accents hanging from the curly willow. They were very elegant and dramatic and I loved them! The low centerpieces also had blue lights in them, with white floating hydrangeas. They were the perfect colors for spring and it was all so beautiful. To tie it all together, we had four blue uplights along the main wall behind the sweetheart and cake tables. It was so pretty.

Cerissa was gorgeous in her white strapless gown with all-over beading, and her slim beaded headband was the perfect accent to her gown. She carried a bouquet of red roses tied with a white handkerchief (I imagine it had special meaning and was her something old). The Bridesmaids wore pool gowns with teal shawls, and the Maid of Honor wore a teal gown with a pool shawl. The gowns were strapless satin with a small train in the back. They all carried bouquets of blue and white hydrangeas. Matt looked handsome, of course, in his black tuxedo, silver vest and tie, and red boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore similar attire but with black vests and ties with white boutonnieres. The whole Bridal Party looked great!

After a very sweet first dance, it was time to get the dance floor open. This group was a lot of fun, dancing to everything from oldies to pop to line dances to slow to everything else. Like I said, they were a lot of fun. After a bit, it was time for the toasts, and only a few tears were shed. :-) Then, cake cutting! The Bride’s cake featured four white, stacked, square tiers with white alternating designs on each layer and red roses on top. The Groom’s cake was Speed Racer’s Mach V. It was awesome!

Sadly, the night had to come to an end. Matt and Cerissa ran through a shower of rose petals, jumped into their limousine and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations to the Newlyweds!

Congratulations Rick and Jessica

This wedding ceremony and reception brought us to Bay Oaks Country Club, one of our favorite venues. A wall of windows, great food, great service, and a great Private
Events Director, Julie, are part of the reasons why. The colors for this wedding were black, white and red. The tables had black floor-length cloths, and the chairs had black satin chair covers with red bead-embellished ties. The centerpieces had tall vases with lights inside, with red roses on top. They were surrounded by red petals and votive candles on the tables. To really accent the room and the colors, we had four red uplights along the wall of windows, which ran behind the cake table. It was all very dramatic and elegant.

Jessica was so pretty in her strapless white gown. She carried a bouquet of red and white roses with a black satin ribbon tied handle. Her Maid of Honor wore a black floor-length dress and carried a similar bouquet. Rick and his Groomsmen wore black tuxes with red vests and white boutonnieres. They all looked great!

The ceremony was held outside, and the weather was perfect. That seems to be unusual for Texas, so we’re glad that this couple had such beautiful weather. After the ceremony, guests came inside for the cocktail hour and dinner. (We provided music for both the ceremony and reception.) After a delicious dinner and a champagne toast, it was time to cut the cake. It was so pretty! It had three stacked tiers with an additional elevated top tier. Each tier was white with different white designs on it, and there were edible red roses cascading down the side. The topper was pretty: it was Jessica and Rick’s initials accented with red rhinestone accents. Then came the first dance, and it was party time! These guests were fun – but it was obvious that country was their favorite genre of music. This wedding was a smaller group than is typical, and it was really nice. It allowed the Bride and Groom to spend a lot of time talking and having fun with their friends and family.

One fun aspect of this wedding was the kids – they were everywhere and I love kids. There were just so many little ones, and since they tend to love to play on the dance floor, they have a way getting the dancing started. And this group of kids never seemed to run out of energy: they partied from beginning to end!

After the Money Dance, the Bouquet and Garter, and more dancing the night finally came to a close. Rick and Jessica bid farewell to their guests and left for their new life as a married couple. Congratulations Rick and Jessica!

Congratulations Vinh and Julie

What a gorgeous reception!! This one was held in the ballroom of the Magnolia Hotel, which has such interesting character in the room (and I mean that in a good way). Julie and Vinh added to the decor with their own touches to make the room look amazing! There were 1000 Origami cranes (folded by Vinh and Julie) hanging behind the cake table, there were white lights hanging with them, and we had two white uplights accenting them. Then, we had six amber uplights on the walls of the room. To top that, there were white, sage, and pink paper lanterns hanging above the dance floor. The whole ballroom was elegant and incredible!

The colors of the wedding were sage and ivory, with pink floral accents. Julie wore a gorgeous ivory strapless gown with pickups on the skirt. She carried a white and pink bouquet. Her Bridesmaids wore sage green gowns and carried pink bouquets. (The flowers were beautiful and I found out that Vinh’s sister did them all. She is so talented!) Vinh wore a black tux with a white boutonniere and his Groomsmen wore matching attire.

The tables featured ivory table cloths with tall vase centerpieces holding tall white calla lilies. At the base of each were votive candles and small vases featuring pink floating flowers. All the tables in the cocktail area had pink hydrangeas scattered around, to match.

The cake was gorgeous. It had four, round, white, stacked tiers, each with a different design. There was a sage ribbon at the bottom of each tier, and it was accented with flowers. The topper consisted of matching flowers. The table was decorated to match with scattered pink and sage flowers.

We knew this was going to be a real party for a few reasons. When we introduced Julie and Vinh in to I Gotta Feeling, the guests went wild. Then, when Vinh introduced the slide show, the guests went wild again. And, when the slide show was over, there was a standing ovation. This group was ready to party from the minute they arrived! (Oh, and a shout out to Vinh, who made the slide show. It was probably the best one we’ve ever seen!)

After the cake cutting, toasts, First Dance, and Father/Daughter Dance, the party was on. As we predicted, they dance from the first song to the last. And, not just danced, but DANCED! They were wild, all over the floor, getting crazy and having a blast! Julie and Vinh said they wanted a total party, with mostly hip-hop, top dance hits, and songs like that, and I see why.

After the bouquet and garter tosses, and LOT more dancing, the night wound down and it was time for the reception to end. Everyone had a great time and wished the Newlyweds their best. Congratulations Vinh and Julie and enjoy Italy!

Congratulations Frank and Gladys

This reception brought us to the J.W. Marriott on Westheimer. The interior is modern and beautiful and the coordinator we worked with, Beverly, was excellent. But, let’s talk about the Bride and Groom.

Gladys was so beautiful in her strapless white beaded gown with full pick-up skirt. She carried red roses. Her Bridesmaids wore floor-length dark red gowns and carried smaller red rose bouquets. Frank was handsome in his black tux with red boutonniere, and his
Groomsmen matched.

To match the colors of the day, the tables were covered in white floor length cloths, with red rose centerpieces. The chairs had white satin chair covers with red ties. And the cake, wow, it was beautiful! It featured four white tiers, each with different designs, and red roses between each tier. The topper consisted of red roses. Instead of a Groom’s cake, there was a chocolate fountain, which was definitely enjoyed. To add to the ambiance of the room, there were eight red uplights along the walls. They make such a difference in a room!

After a delicious sit down meal, it was time for the toast and cake cutting. The First Dance: what can I say. It was awesome! Frank and Gladys choreographed an eight minute dance, like some you might have seen on the internet. They started with a slow song, went into some great fun dance songs like YMCA, Apache, Ice Ice Baby, and others, then ended it up with the slow song again. It was fantastic and the guests went crazy clapping, laughing, and singing along! Following that were the Father//Daughter and Mother/Son dances, and the party was on. This group was fun! They danced to everything from Line Dances to Waltzes to Hip Hop to Eighties to everything else.

At one point, cousins of the Bride sang “From This Moment” dedicated to the Newlyweds. It was really sweet and you could tell it meant a lot to Gladys and Frank. After that, and the Bouquet and Garter, it was back to the party. This couple said they wanted the reception to be a big party, and they got it. It was so much fun, the guests were dancing, and a great time was had by all.

Congratulations Christian and Rachel

This reception was held at the beautiful Westlake Club. There are gorgeous views from the floor to ceiling windows in the 7th floor ballroom. With the candles in the windows, it was so elegant! And Jennifer, the Private Events Director is fantastic and a pleasure to work with.

The colors of this wedding were red and black. The Bride’s cake had five stacked white tiers with white fondant ‘ribbons’ at the base of each. Red edible roses trailed down the front. Christian’s cake was a top hat with the German flag on the top. (He is from Germany.)

Rachel was so beautiful in her slim, ivory gown and ivory elbow-length gloves. Her Bridal Party all wore strapless, black satin gowns, and carried red bouquets. Christian wore a tux with tails, a red vest, a red boutonniere, and a black top hat with a red band. He looked so handsome and really had the style to carry off the look. His Groomsmen wore black tuxes with red ties and the all looked so nice.

This reception was unique in that it was a Texan/German wedding. Rachel and Christian made sure to throw in touches that are common in German weddings, to honor the Groom’s heritage. They did a Distance Game, to see who travelled the farthest. For the toast, the guests were offered champagne as well as a shot of German liquor. Apparently, it’s common in Germany to do a shot after a nice meal. By the look on some faces, I think that liquor was pretty potent! Then, they played a game called “How Well Do You Know Your Mate?” which challenged three couples: the Bride and Groom, and each set of parents. The parents of the Bride won, and the game was hilarious!

After the first dance, it was party time! This was a great crowd that loved to dance. We were provided some German dance songs and those were a hit as well. There were also so many little kids at this reception, and they were running all over the dance floor and having a ball. They were so cute! Two of them belonged to the sister and brother-in-law of the bride, and we provided DJ services at their reception 6 ½ years ago. It’s amazing how time flies. There was also a much appreciated children’s room, with babysitters, balloons, toys, crayons, candy, and all sorts of things to keep the kids entertained. The kids love the room.

Finally, after a long night of fun and dancing and the bouquet and garter, the evening came to a close. Some guests boarded the shuttle buses that took them back to their hotel, and others went to a bar to keep the party going. I have a feeling that party went all night long! Congratulations to the Newlyweds!

Way To Go M Bank

We had a great time Saturday night providing entertainment for the M. Bank annual Preferred Customer Appreciation Banquet. They had cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and casino gambling. Everyone had a great time and it was fun hearing the excitement as people hit it big. Every five minutes you'd hear a big "Woo hoo!!!!" or hear the coins clinking in the slot machine. At the end of the night, the winnings were exchanged for tickets, which were put in for some great door prize drawings. Usually when you have a Casino Night, it's all about gambling, but this group was so fun, there was dancing as well! It was a fun night for all and it was also nice to see a company showing their appreciation to their loyal customers, even in these tough economic times.

This wedding reception was held at a really cool site – a room in the Grand Opera House in Galveston. The first-floor room had been destroyed during Hurricane Ike, but it looked great for the wedding day. An exposed ceiling, brick walls, and the location looking right on to the street made it feel like we were in a downtown loft. I loved it. To add to the loft feel, the couple had a cocktail type reception, with heavy appetizers and cocktail tables instead of regular tables.

The colors of the day were purple and champagne. Libbi was gorgeous in her strapless, champagne-colored gown. It had a delicate sheer lace overlay with a lace pattern and embellishments. It also had a champagne satin sash at the waist that draped down to the floor in the back. Her hair style was the perfect accent to the gown, as it was held up on one side by a gorgeous feather clip. Her flowers were assorted white hydrangeas, white lilies, and purple calla lilies, tied with a champagne colored lace ribbon. The Bridesmaids bouquets were similar but a bit smaller. They wore dark purple gowns with champagne colored satin sashes that draped down the back. Ben wore a black tux with a champagne colored vest and tie. His Groomsmen wore black vests and ties. They all had ivory boutonnieres.

There were some really neat touches at this reception that tied in the colors. At the sign-in table, there were champagne colored cards mounted on purple paper, to write a message to the Newlyweds. They even had a card stand, decorated with their last initial, for displaying the cards. On the front doors, they had two wreaths hanging up with purple ribbons. Their first initials were in each wreath. Oh, and I can’t forget the trolley. The guests as well as the Bridal Party arrived in a trolley. How cool is that? Then, the trolley ran throughout the reception to take the guests back to their cars at the church.

After dinner, it was time for the special dances. Libbi and Ben shared a sweet First Dance followed by the Father/Daughter dance. The Mother/Son dance was a bit unusual because about one minute into the dance, the Groomsmen and their mothers joined in. The, we invited all mothers and sons in the room to join in. After that, party time! This crowd was fun! They liked to dance to everything and loved to fill the dance floor. We saw the largest group of Aggies we’ve ever seen on the dance floor when we played the Aggie War Hymn. At one point, they lifted Ben up into the air!

A bit later, it was time for the toasts. After two very nice ones, it was on to the cake cutting. The beautiful cake matched the wedding day colors as well. It was a four-tiered champagne-colored cake, with a purple scroll ‘band’ around each layer as an accent. It was very elegant. After a nice feeding, no smashing here, it was back to the party.

When it was time for the bouquet and garter, this couple did something a bit different for the bouquet. Instead of just tossing it, Libbi had us do a ‘dance off’. We invited all the single ladies to the dance floor and had them dance for the bouquet. There was some great dancing out there! But as a surprise, Libbi quickly turned around and threw the bouquet anyway. After all, who wanted to pick the best dancer when there were so many great ones?

Something really cool happened at this reception: Jerry Jeff Walker showed up and took a picture with the Bride and Groom! It turns out that he had a concert next door and heard about the reception, so he was nice enough to drop by for a minute.

The night finally came to a close, and the Newlyweds ran through sparklers, jumped into a trolley, and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations!

Happy Anniversary Will and Allison

This event was a 25th Anniversary party for wonderful couple surrounded by many family members and friends. It was held at the beautiful Bay Oaks Country Club, which was so gorgeous with the holiday decorations. After dinner, Will and Allison showed a slideshow of their years together, which was followed by toasts and many well wishes for continued happiness. Then, as a surprise to Will, a birthday cake came out while we played Happy Birthday. That was followed by the presentation of a gift and a slideshow of Will’s life, made by his children. After that, it was on to the dancing. It was obvious that this large Canadian & American group truly enjoyed being together, as they had fun to the very last song. If this group represents Canadians, I want to party with them all the time! At one point, they lifted Will and Allison in chairs on the dance floor and sang a special song to them. It was a Canadian tradition, and very cool.

Congratulations Will and Allison and here’s to many more years of marital bliss! (Oh, and thanks to introducing me to Stompin’ Tom Connors {a Canadian singer}. I love his music – it’s so much fun!)

Happy New Year

We had a great time on New Year’s Eve. We provided the music and dance floor lighting at Kiran’s, a highly rated Indian Restaurant on Westheimer. They had three dinner seatings, and the last one stayed until 1:00 am to bring in the New Year. There was a champagne toast at midnight, party favors, and lots of fun and dancing. This was our first time playing Bollywood music and I loved it! The patrons enjoyed the food and the music and we all had a great time. And, a big thanks to Kiran and her staff. They are all professional and friendly, and a great bunch to work with. The picture shows how cool the dance floor looked with the lighting.

This reception took place at the beautiful Wyndehaven Terrace on Cutten Road. If you’ve never been there, you should check it out! It’s really gorgeous. The colors for the wedding were royal blue and silver and they were tied in with a winter theme. The tables had white cloths with silver chargers. The white chair covers were tied with royal blue ties. There were alternating high/low centerpieces of assorted white flowers surrounded by candles. There were silver and blue ornaments scattered around the base of the centerpieces as well. It was so pretty!

Meredith was beautiful in her strapless white gown. It had just the right of elegant embellishments and was gorgeous. She carried a bouquet of assorted white roses tied with a royal blue satin ribbon. Her Bridesmaids wore long royal blue gowns and carried white rose bouquets tied with white ribbons. Jon looked very handsome in his black tux with silver tux and tie. I loved his black and white shoes (I don’t know what they’re called, but they look like what they wore in the 40’s. They were very cool!). Jon’s Groomsmen all wore royal blue vests and ties. The whole Bridal Party looked awesome together!

After dinner, the first dance, father/daughter dance (the song was picked by Meredith’s dad and was a surprise to her), and the mother/son dance, the party was underway. This crowd danced from the first song to the last, and was a lot of fun!

The white three-tiered, square, fondant wedding cake had white designs on each layer, with a royal blue fondant ribbon at the base of each. There were a few elegant white edible flowers on each tier, and the cake was topped with a silver initial. Jon’s cake was pretty cool: it was a royal blue San Diego Chargers jersey with his last name on it. The cake cutting was hilarious! Jon and Meredith both smashed the cake in each other’s faces, and everyone got a good laugh out of it. Luckily, I happened to get a picture of it.

Following more dancing (a lot of dancing!) and fun, it was time for the bouquet and garter. The bouquet toss had the largest group of ladies I’ve seen in a long time. The garter toss was funny when the guy who caught it ran a victory lap around the dance floor.

Sadly, the night came to a close and Meredith and Jon ran though a shower of bubbles and off to their new life together. Congratulations Cookie Bear and Little Angel

Congratulations Serge and Kasia

This wedding featured the colors of white, silver, and blue, which are so pretty in the winter. There were white table cloths, white satin chair covers, and light blue chair ties. The tables had centerpieces of white and blue gladiolas in a tall vase. Each place setting had a silver charger topped with a white napkin holding a favor for each guest. The favors were nice square glass coasters with a thank you note inside. They were tied in an organza bag with Belgium chocolates. You know everyone will love those!

Kasia (isn’t that a beautiful name?) looked so pretty in her white strapless gown. It was embellished all over with detailing and glittering beading. Her elbow length veil matched with its beaded edge. She carried a bouquet of assorted white/ivory/antique white flowers. Her Bridesmaids wore floor length gowns in a pretty shade of soft medium blue and carried similar flowers with soft pink accents. Serge looked so handsome in his black tux and shirt with grey tie. He wore a white boutonniere. His groomsmen wore similar attire except their ties were white.

After a seated meal, it was on to the special dances. Following more dancing was the toasts. After a very funny toast by Serge’s brother, including the now famous line, “Dang, I’m fine!” It was on to the cake cutting. Their white, three-tiered cake had different designs on each layer, and was topped with a white fondant bow. It was very elegant. No smashing was involved, and then back to the party.

A neat aspect about this wedding was the mix of families and guests. The Groom is African and the Bride is Polish. Some guests flew in from out of the country to attend, from as far as Switzerland and the Republic of Congo in Central Africa! It was so nice to see such a variety of people talking and laughing and dancing and enjoying each other so much. It was obvious how much everyone really, truly loved being together. The families were just so welcoming to each other.

After the bouquet and garter and more dancing, the evening came to an end. Serge and Kashia bid farewell to their guests and headed off to their new life as a married couple. Congratulations!

Help a senior citizen for the holidays

At the Walmart by my house, they have a tree decorated with names of seniors in nursing homes who would like a few things for Christmas. Most of them asked for things such as blankets, slipper socks. lotion, a toothbrush (yes, one needed a toothbrush). They need only the basics. What bothered me is that the tree still had 20 names left, and the sign said they'd start picking up the gifts to deliver in 2 days. Which means that some seniors may not get anything at all.

Please go get a name and buy some necessities to those nursing home seniors! I bought a very nice, soft blanket, two pairs of slipper socks, and lotion, and only paid $35.00. Surely some of you can do that. If you can't, please pass this on and hopefully all those names will get chosen and all the seniors will get something nice for Christmas.

This elegant ceremony and reception took place at The Houstonian, and if you haven’t seen it decorated for Christmas, you really need to, it's gorgeous! The colors for this wedding were brown and gold with pink accents, and they looked so nice in the ballrooms. The Bride wore a gorgeous pale ivory strapless gown and sheer elbow length gloves, and carried a bouquet of ivory roses and hydrangeas with pink accents. The Bridesmaids wore floor length chocolate brown strapless gowns and carried pink bouquets with ivory accents. Handy was handsome in his black tux with white tie and ivory boutonniere. His Groomsmen wore the same but with pink boutonnieres. The ceremony had beautiful ivory floral arrangements with pink accents on the aisles as well as at the altar, and had candles in large vases.

The reception room was also beautiful, with floor-length brown pin tuck table cloths with ivory/gold colored chair covers. The tables had alternating center pieces of multi level candles or ivory floral arrangements. Each place setting had a long slim brown box tied with a gold ribbon. Each favor box held a pair of chopsticks and a thank you note from the families.

There were a lot of unique aspects to this reception, thanks to the hard work of many families and friends. First, Handy and Donna serenaded their guests with a duet after they were introduced into the room. Then, they had two friends act as MCs throughout the event. Special dedications and performances by friends to the Bride and Groom included singing to a keyboard and guitar, a surprise slide show, a duet with a guitar player, and another slide show. Later, some friends did a Salsa dance dedicated to the Newlyweds. I think there must have been at least 15 people involved in these dedications, in one way or another. And, people put in a great deal of work as far as the timeline, script, and order of events, which shows how much they care about the Bride and Groom. What a talented bunch, and a great group of friends!

After dinner, visiting tables, and the performances, it was time for the cake cutting. The three-tiered ivory cake was beautiful, with different designs on each layer, and an ivory fondant bow on top. Handy and Donna fed each other, and then each fed some cake to their parents as a symbol of gratitude and respect. It was such a nice honor. Then, it was on to the toasts and the first dance. At last, the dance floor was open and it was party time!

Following the bouquet and garter, and a few words from Donna and Handy, the Newlyweds left for their new and beautiful life together. Congratulations!

Congratulations Steven and Rebecca

This ceremony and reception were held the day after the “big” snow in Houston, so we had nice cold weather. It was perfect for this wedding with the colors of white, silver and black. The room had white table cloths with white chair covers and white napkins. The centerpiece on the head table had tall silver branches with crystals hanging from them. It looked like a winter wonderland. The other tables had white floating candles with white and silver sea shells. They looked like a Texas winter wonderland. It was all pretty and fit the weather to a T.

Rebecca looked so pretty in her white gown. It had a lace overlay, with lace tiers on the skirt. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses and stephanotis, tied with a white satin ribbon. The Bridesmaids wore cocktail length black gowns and carried white calla lilies tied with white ribbons. Steven looked so handsome in his black tux, grey vest, and white calla lily boutonniere. The Groomsmen all wore matching attire.

The ceremony was unique in that the Bride chose Native American flute music for the prelude to reflect her heritage. Then, more traditional music was played for the ceremony. The reception was a mix of all kinds of music, from oldies to current to everything in between. Something really fun we played during the dinner hour, per the Bride and Groom’s request, was music by Richard Cheese. He does lounge versions of popular songs such as Baby Got Back, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and Bust A Move. The music is really good and it takes you a minute to realize what song you’re listening to.

After dinner, the special dances, and the toasts, it was time for the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake was so unique I don’t know if I can describe it, but it was really pretty! It had four, white, stacked tiers, with silver dots, and a silver ribbon at the base of each. The shape is what made it unusual. It wasn’t oval, but like an oval with curves on each side. That didn’t make any sense, but it was so elegant. The rhinestone initial on the top was the perfect accent for this pretty cake. The Groom’s cake was also unique. I don’t know if I can describe the cake shape either, but it was six-sided (a hexagon?) and it was taller at the back and shorter at the front. It was cool. And it was all smooth chocolate, with on the word “Keepsies” on the top in lighter chocolate fondant. Apparently, that’s a word Steven often says to Rebecca. How sweet!

After the bouquet and garter, and plenty more dancing (including a guy who was a great dancer and entertained the crowd, and a boy break dancing and standing on his head), it was finally time for these really fun Newlyweds to make their exit. Off in the elevator they went, to their new life together. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon in Jamaica!

Congratulations Jason and Virginia

The colors for this fall/winter wedding were ruby red, chocolate brown and champagne. They looked so elegant and were perfect for the cool weather. And they looked so pretty in the ballroom of the Petroleum Club. The tables were topped with dark red rose centerpieces with candles scattered around. The head table had no flowers, just candles galore. It was so pretty! To add to the look we had two red uplights highlighting the head table and that really made the room look gorgeous!

Other details I noticed were the photos and the favors. Normally you see a few photos on the sign in table, but this couple did it differently. They had about 25 photos of them at all ages, and they were displayed on two long tables covered in candles. It looked so pretty and actually added an accent to the room. There were custom made magnets at each place setting with the Newlywed’s picture on a black scroll background. They even matched the design on the Bride’s cake.

Virginia looked so beautiful in her white strapless gown with full, tulle-topped skirt. The bodice had beading and embellishments and featured a tulle band at the top, and the skirt had a bit of beading to match. With her up-do and thin headband tiara, she looked so elegant. Virginia’s bouquet had dark red roses with white rose accents. The Bridesmaids wore brown floor length dresses and carried dark red bouquets with white and brown ribbon accents. Jason looked handsome in his tux with white vest and tie. His Groomsmen wore tuxes to match, with brown vests and dark red boutonnieres. Jason had two women standing up on his side, which is becoming more common, and they wore taupe cocktail length dresses that matched the wedding colors, with dark red rose corsages. It all came together nicely!

After dinner, the dancing started out with the Grand March (see post below to learn about it). That lead into the First Dance and Father/Daughter/Mother/Son dance, and party time began! This was another great crowd that loved to dance and have fun. They danced to everything from Country to Polka to Hip Hop to everything in between.

After a bit of dancing, it was time for the cake cutting. The Bride’s cake had four white stacked tiers with chocolate scrolls on each. It was topped by red roses. Jason’s cake was two stacked books and they almost looked real! The top one was Atlas Shrugged (I admit it, I never did make it through that whole book, kudos to anyone who did!) and the bottom one said Quantum Physics. That cake was awesome! The toasts followed, and the Anniversary Dance started the dancing again. The longest married couple was married 51 years, and after they shared some words of advice to the Newlyweds, it was back to the party.

Following the bouquet and garter and more dancing fun (including overtime, this crowd didn’t want to stop!) it was finally time for Virginia and Jason to make their exit. They ran through a shower of rose petals and ringing bells, and headed off to their new life together. Congratulations Jason and Virginia!
